Amentum is seeking a 1st shift Industrial Civil/Carpenter in Richmond, VA.

  • Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, 9:00AM – 5:30PM; hours may vary based on business demand.

  • Hiring hourly range: $28-31/hr (hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data).

As the Industrial Civil/Carpenter, you will be responsible to:

  • Perform, coordinate, and complete work orders through a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) mobile device.

  • Perform maintenance repairs throughout the facilities including production areas, grounds, office areas, conference rooms, restrooms, and other common spaces.

  • Diagnose problems and complete repairs related to plumbing, flooring, concrete, carpentry, doors, drywall, and patching/caulking.

  • Maintain and repair plumbing components such as toilets, urinals, flush valves, sinks, automatic faucets, fixtures, and drains.

  • Mix and pour construction material (e.g., forms for concrete foundations, sand, and grout).

  • Install fixtures and fittings such as door handles, locks, hinges, and closures.

  • Prepare, scrape, sand, fill, clean, patch, repair, stencil, and paint surfaces of walls, woodwork, and trim using paint and other protective or decorative finishes.

  • Deliver outstanding customer service to the client and other building occupants.

  • Communicate and effectively work together with co-workers, subcontractors, and management.

  • Ensure that policies and procedures, as well as safety and compliance expectations, are met.

  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.

  • Manage daily and long-term tasks to meet work order priorities and project deadlines.

  • Complete regular inspections as directed by Management.

  • Other duties as assigned by Management or Lead Technician.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent.

  • Five years of experience as a general maintenance technician in a large industrial, production, military or research and development facility, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to utilize an aerial or scissor lift at heights of 30 feet or more.

  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.

  • Ability to organize and lay out assigned tasks; interprets plans, diagrams, sketches, and specifications; performs tasks from verbal, written task, and work orders.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, and Excel).

  • Must be willing to work overtime, holidays, various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

  • Knowledgeable in lockout/tagout (LOTO).

  • Knowledgeable with confined space awareness and hot work permitting.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

Some physical/special requirements include:

  • Regularly lift to 50 lbs

  • Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding

  • Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement

  • Walk extensively throughout the plant during shift

  • Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions

  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Journey level license in a skilled trade.

  • Industrial/commercial maintenance background.

  • Experience utilizing a mobile device for processing work orders.

  • Multi-craft skilled (e.g., 24v-480v electrical experience).

  • Industrial/commercial HVAC experience.
