Carpenter
Amentum is seeking a skilled Carpenter to perform work related to renovations supporting our Government Client in McLean, VA! As a Carpenter, you will perform carpentry construction work to include, but not limited to, framing, hanging drywall, installing/repairing carpet tiles, installing/repairing acoustical ceilings, installing doors and door hardware related to construction and building & grounds maintenance. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
Hours: Monday - Friday 6:00 am- 3:30 pm.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the planning and the lay out of work.
Perform carpentry buildings and grounds maintenance work.
Perform carpentry construction work.
Responsible for the planning, layout and execution of jobs.
Performs minor masonry and concrete work.
Perform related work as required.
Provides oversight to outside contractors.
Directs Carpenter II and M/M Helpers, and repair personnel as assigned.
Read blueprints and generate bill of materials.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school, technical school, apprenticeship, trade school graduate or equivalent required.
4 years’ experience in the carpentry trade or completion of a recognized apprenticeship, vocational or internal development program for a journeyman carpenter.
Possess thorough knowledge of the carpentry trade.
Must be able to operate power tools and machinery as required.
Ability to comprehend written and oral instruction.
A willingness to work shifts if necessary, including days, evenings, and nights as well as overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to write correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbents may work in conditions that require operating industrial machinery/power tools and motor vehicles. Additionally, incumbents may participate in work that requires walking, bending, squatting, and carrying materials throughout the facility.
Workplace conditions necessitate following strict safety guidelines and the u se of Personal Protective Equipment. Work tasks requiring the incumbent to lift weight more than 50 pounds requires two or more persons.
