Job Summary

  • Develops, writes and edits material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instructions books, catalogs and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment.
  • Acts as supervisor to other Technical
  • Observes production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and
  • Interviews production and engineering personnel and reads journals, reports, and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods.
  • Organizes material and completes writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Reviews published materials and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of work and revisions.
  • Edits material prepared by other writers or plant personnel. May specialize in writing material regarding work methods and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Eight (8) years of full-time professional experience in the development, review, and/or production of DoD-related technical documentation, where:
  • An Associate’s level degree in any graphic arts discipline or in any liberal arts discipline where grammar and composition (in English) was a major area of study may substitute for two (2) years of the professional OR
  • A Bachelor’s level degree in any graphic arts discipline or in any liberal arts discipline where grammar and composition (in English) was a major area of study may substitute for four (4) years of professional
