Job Summary

Provide detailed instructions for Cleaning Technicians and others to accomplish the decontamination, cleaning, refurbishment and testing of components and systems submitted to the CRCA Laboratory. This position assists all CRCA Departments, KSC Contractors and NASA in problems relating to contamination control, hardware refurbishment, special tooling, processing, testing, governing specifications and definitions of testing/cleaning requirements and capabilities as required.

Essential Responsibilities:

Receive, review and provide detailed instructions to accomplish contractor cleaning and decontamination requests.
Prepare intermediate and depot maintenance manuals and technical operating procedures for processing and testing of components and systems.
Generate work order authorizations for specific tasks or special projects that are considered unique.
Disposition written in-process discrepancies related to the processing or testing of items that does not require specification changes.
Assist in the procurement of parts required for the refurbishment of components.
Consult with and advise customers on matters pertaining to cleaning and testing requirements, techniques and capabilities.
Provide drafting assistance for CRCA.
Assist in the preparation of departmental operating procedures.
Assure engineering instructions conform to safety, environmental and quality standards as applicable.
Perform duties in compliance with Federal, State, Local, NASA, and other governing regulations and requirements and KSC energy management, conservation regulations, collective bargaining agreement, security, safety, hurricane and specialized programs or contractual requirements relating to the business of the section within the limits of established policy.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Work is performed in a variety of settings including an office environment, laboratory and outside with occasional exposure to Hazmat materials in proper containers. Occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must be able to work under deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

A minimum of two years of college level engineering or scientific study. A minimum of seven years of directly related experience may be substituted for advanced education requirements. Previous experience and required skills must include technical experience in industrial operations involving high-pressure systems or fluid/chemical processing and transfer systems; demonstrated experience and competence in component refurbishment operations; background in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, parts lists and technical specifications; ability to make determinations concerning chemical/material compatibility and technical writing experience.

US citizenship is required for unescorted access to assigned work area(s). Must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). May require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
