Job Summary

Purpose and Scope:

The Corrosion Control Specialist performs corrosion control to include washing, cleaning, corrosion detection, corrosion removal, metal treatment, and touch up painting. Assist in the preparation of the equipment for complete repaint.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Prepares Vehicles, Bare Base equipment, Cryogenics assets, Fuels Support Equipment and Munitions Material Handling Equipment for painting.
  • Applies specified paint finish schemes using air or airless spray equipment or by brush.
  • Carries out all duties in accordance with Quality and Safety Standards.
  • Removes or abrades existing paint finish by sandblasting, scraping, sanding or chemical paint removing methods.
  • Treats corrosion on ferrous and non-ferrous metals by grinding, wire brushing, or chemical acid treatment as is appropriate.
  • Applies metal conditioners and pretreatment washes.
  • Applies body filler to holed or depressed areas and to smooth these filled areas to compliment the surface contour.
  • Applies complete finishing schemes, as specified, using pneumatic or airless spraying equipment or by brush if appropriate.
  • Applies lettering and identifying insignia and performs maintenance and repair procedures to all equipment used during the performance of these duties.
  • Identifies correct thinners with paints for different applications.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in corrosion control
  • Must be Respirator Qualified
  • Familiar with normal operational safety requirements, working on and around aircraft and/or ground support equipment.
  • Possess a thorough working knowledge of corrosion theory, detection, treatment, and prevention.
  • Working knowledge of applicable maintenance / technical manuals, basic tools, and special tools.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate the English language and to follow verbal and written instruction.
  • The preferred candidate would have a valid work & residency permit to work in Germany, or be a national of the European Union / European Economic Area.
  • This positions is not approved for relocation
