Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a Procurement Specialist / Senior Buyer for an upcoming opportunity with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) in North Island, CA. This program provides Chemical Management Services in support of DLA Aviation's retail industrial direct support of aircraft maintenance depot and production lines.

Purpose and Scope:

Direct the day to day purchase, receipt, storage, and sale of products to our customers by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Establish operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current.
  • Work with vendors to ensure prompt delivery of products for stock and to satisfy immediate customer demands.
  • Inspect physical condition of warehouse and equipment.
  • Prepares work order for repairs and requisition for replacement of equipment.
  • Coordinate with accounting and purchasing to ensure accuracy of inventory and financial records.
  • Participate in planning personnel safety and plant protection activities.
  • Process information/merchandise through point of sale inventory management system.
  • Write or type purchase orders and sends copy to supplier and department originating request.
  • Compile records of items purchased or transferred between departments, prices, deliveries, and inventories. Computes total cost of items purchased.
  • Confer with suppliers concerning late deliveries.
  • Compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates and awards contract to bidders or places orders with suppliers or mail order firms.
  • Train, plan, assign and direct work of employees and conducts performance appraisals, rewards and disciplines employees.
  • Address complaints and resolve problems.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested


Minimum Requirements

Procurement Analyst shall have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in positions where
performance required:

  • Managing and executing procurement processes.
  • Performing exhaustive research using purchase descriptions, Military, Federal, or standard
    commercial or manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Managing critical item procurements to prevent work stoppages and depleted inventory
    balances.
  • Understanding how HM products are used and applied in the customer’s weapons systems
    and mission.
  • Building positive relationships and maintaining strong relationships with critical suppliers.
  • Researching HM product lines, procurement specifications, sources of supply
  • Performing and applying market research techniques to determine commercial market
    conditions, Government sources of supply, and commercial transportation.
  • Developing mechanisms for reporting supplier performance and monitoring performance.
  • Using Business Intelligence tools and Procurement Applications.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must hold a Motor Vechiicle Drivers License.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
