Amentum is seeking a Seaman/Cook in support of the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission in Andros Island, Bahamas. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments. The Seaman/Cook is responsible for food preparation for up to 20 shipboard personnel and be a member of the crew for the AUTEC Project.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Galley functions including planning meals, ordering food supplies, receiving and stocking, food preparation, maintaining meal logs and insuring sanitary conditions are maintained to the satisfaction of PBC Health Inspector.
• Prepares meals for on board personnel when ship is underway.
• Responsible for financial accounting of meals when ship is underway.
• Performs housekeeping chores as needed.
• Conducts rigging operations of heavy equipment per NAVFAC guidelines and standards.
• Handles and transports hazardous ordnance materials up to class/division 1.1 per NAVORD standards.
• Trained in recovery on exercise torpedoes (MK-46/MK-50 REXTORPS, MK-48, MOD 4,5,6 and MK-46,54 EXTORPS).
• Cleans assigned area.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school graduate or equivalent and graduate of maritime training or seaman school.
• 2 years related experience working in Seaman Environment, (Preferred).
• Must be qualified to obtain and maintain certification in, Explosive Weapon Certification, required within 6 months of hire.
• Culinary training preferred.
• Must meet physical examination requirements of BUMED inst. 6270.7 series and OCD (RS) 22 05 1 for occupational exposure to OTTO fuel.
• Must be able to push/pull/lift 50 pounds.
• Must pass standard employment physical.
• Must be able to obtain a certification in Explosive Weapon within 6 months of hire.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• This position requires the individual to be eligible to obtain a US Government Secret security clearance.
• Valid driver’s license and passport will be required.

Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.
