Equipment Operator, Heavy - Crane Certif
Skilled in operating heavy equipment used in engineering, construction, repair, and maintenance projects. Position is represented by a Union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Essential Responsibilities:
Must be able to operate a variety of construction equipment including, but not limited to front-end loader, backhoe, forklift (over 5 tons), graders (any type or size), grade-alls, scrapers 631, 637, and 623 paddle wheel, slip-form concrete asphalt pavers, machines for breaking ground and digging proficiently and safely.
If not already proficient in operating, required to learn.
Must comply with all safety practices and environmental regulations.
Must have proficient computer skills to include MS Office products and use computer-based time keeping programs.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Hydraulic rough terrain and truck mounted cranes up to 130 tons.
Must have a valid, Class A CDL license, OSHA-10 Card for construction industry, CPR/First Aid.
Must be able to meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain the required US Government Security Clearance and access to the work location. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a US Government Security Clearance.
Must pass pre-hire drug screening and Fit-for-Duty physical.
Must be able to work in a remote location with limited medical personnel and facilities.
Will need to provide: Social Security Card, original state issued birth certificate or Naturalization Certificate, valid state issued driver’s license, and certifications listed in Additional Mandatory Requirements. No rehires, unless approved by local HR/LR.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Work is mainly performed outdoors in all types of weather, and operator may be exposed to extremes of climate and temperatures. Operator will also work in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. Frequently lifts items weighing 40-45 pounds and occasionally in excess of 50 pounds. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.
