DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary purpose of this position is to manage, operate, inspect, test, maintain, repair, alter, and install generator systems such as diesel and gasoline generators, automatic transfer switches/panels, all associated mechanical and electrical systems, light-alls, and renewable power generation.

Performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as, but not limited to, the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. Work involves most of the following: Installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment;; locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system; working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment; and using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.

Performs a variety of power production electrical trade functions such as, but not limited to, the installation, removal, maintenance, or operation of electrical power generating and control systems, automatic transfer switches, and associated equipment. Checks equipment for serviceability. Inspects, tests, and services engine oil, fuel, and coolant gauges. Adjusts engine generator systems to maintain proper voltage, current frequency, and synchronization. Synchronizes multi-generators. Operates high and low voltage switches, circuit breakers, rheostats, and other controls. Performs inspections and interprets findings to determine corrective action. Identifies and records engine and generator malfunctions. Uses precision test equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, and inspects parts for excessive wear and other conditions. Removes, repairs, and replaces defective power generating equipment components. Performs corrosion control. Inspects and replaces gauges and meters. Reviews and advises on projects associated with electrical power generating and control systems, automatic transfer switches. Reviews layout drawings and wiring diagrams. Ensures new construction meets proper operating characteristics of equipment. Establishes maintenance and operating procedures to ensure maximum efficiency. Maintains records. Posts entries on operation, inspection, and maintenance records. Records, wear and alignment measurements, fuel consumption, and other data in performance logs. Furnishes information for reports and recommends changes to correct defective equipment or improve operating procedures. Complies with environmental policies.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

In general, the work of the maintenance electrician requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Must have a minimum of six (6) years journey-level experience. Completed a formal apprenticeship or equivalent formal vocational/technical training program on industrial electrical systems preferred. Four (4) years of power production experience and /or equivalent military experience; gasoline and diesel engine repair experience preferred;. Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and speak the English language. Must maintain required city/county/state license(s) and/or certification(s), where applicable. HS Diploma or equivalent required. Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check. Must have and maintain a valid CO state driver’s license. Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check. Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle. Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices. Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.). Must be able to perform On-call duties when scheduled and report to work within one hour of notification. Must be able to work alternate shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements of the customer, to include weekends and holidays. Physically fit to bend, stoop, and lift in awkward positions and able to lift up to 60 lbs.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Performs all assigned duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and directives. Displays courtesy and skill in dealing with internal and external customers, coworkers, and management. Accurately maintains and updates records to enable quick and efficient retrieval of information. Follows up on suspense items to ensure timely completion. Consistently produces quality products, service, documents, and/or reports. Ability to work independently. Complete all training within required timeline. Perform all work in a safe and secure manner.

TRAINING

All conferences, workshops, and seminars as deemed necessary by the supervisor or the position. Completes all safety, anti-terrorism, fire extinguisher, asbestos awareness, and any other local, state, federal, and installation required training.

Hourly Rate: $30.07
