46239 Structural Engineer Intern

Amentum is actively seeking a Structural Engineer Intern – Technical III in the Englewood, CO office.

The Amentum Technical Services Internship Program is designed to engage college students in the practical application of a major administrative or technical study and to familiarize the intern with the interactions and requirements of the industry.
Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience. Individuals interning in Environmental Sciences (ES&H), Engineering, Construction Management, Computer Science and Management Information Systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Assist in the preparation of project calculations.
  • Assist in the production of design drawings.

Compensation & Benefits

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $20.17-$29.11 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Working towards Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with a Structures Major (or equivalent education).
  • Due to the nature of work, Must be a US Citizen
  • College or university student with a minimum of 90 credits.
  • Good oral and written communications skills.
  • Working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications.
  • Organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are require
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with guidance and direction from others.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
  • Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Position may require travel

Preferred Qualifications

Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.

Working towards Master of Science degree in structural engineering.

Coursework in Reinforced Concrete and Steel Design.

Knowledge of industry codes and standards, including AISC 360, ASCE 7, IBC, and ACI 318

Working knowledge of STAAD.Pro modeling, analysis, design, and post processing or similar software tools.

Working knowledge and expertise in MathCad, Excel, and Word
