Electronic Field Engineer (Ordnance Dept.)
Amentum is seeking an Electronic Field Engineer for a position on Kauai, HI. Supporting the Ordnance Department, the candidate is responsible for ensuring Quality Control & Assurance processes are in place throughout Launch/Ordnance Systems, that they reflect best practices, are followed by the department Technicians, and are maintained in current state as process improvements are identified. Maintain a close partnering and collaborative relationship with the PMRF Launch/Ordnance Government Task Manager (GTM) Staff along with the Contract Task Manager (CTM)/Supervisor on all department task and support initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Assists the PMRF Launch Systems Engineer in managing system configuration, design, integration, installation, modification, and validation testing.
- Provide Quality Control oversight and inspection of Launch/Ordnance tasks such as ordnance handling, torpedo post-op maintenance, hazardous waste/toxic material work, missile/target build-up, launch operations, fire control system configuration/certification, and launcher system configuration/certification.
- Provide Quality Assurance for Launch System Certification, Interface Control Document (ICD) configuration and changes authorized by the Government Task Manager (GTM).
- Provide pre-launch certification and documentation including lightning-grounding system tests, weight testing, launcher/rail alignment checks and visual inspections for corrosion or any other deficiency noted.
- Coordinate and communicate all QA/QC tasks with the Launch/Ordnance department Supervisor and provide written feedback to the Supervisor.
- Develop system requirements, procedures, checklists, testing and verification guidance which insure a smooth and effective transition between tasks and different disciplines involved from start thru completion.
- Support configuration development and studies.
- Specify and procure components and materials.
- Assist PMRF GTM’s with development activities regarding recommended approaches, concept of operations, schedule, and cost estimation.
- Manage Contract Task Orders that are assigned to schedule and budget.
- Manage subcontractors as needed.
- Perform as second to department Contract Task Manager (CTM)/Supervisor in his/her absence.
- Perform duties as ISSO (Information System Security Office) for Launch Ordnance systems.
- Performs other duties as required.
Additional Responsibilities
- General Office & Laboratory Environment with occasional field assignments
- Extended operational hours and occasional weekend/holiday activity during periods of surge mission support
- Must be able to lift, carry, install, and remove electronic and mechanical equipment and other support systems.
- Lifting 25-50 lbs.
- Work positions requirements: walking, standing, crawling, kneeling. Cramped, sitting, and repeated stooping or frequent stair climbing.
- Pushing/pulling 25-50 lbs.
- Customer contact, extended workday, confined work area, office laboratory, and field assignment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or similar discipline from an accredited College.
- Equivalent years of experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five years of experience with aircraft, spacecraft, missiles, or launch vehicle mechanical and electrical systems.
- Strong mechanical design, integration, and systems engineering skills are required.
- Possesses knowledge of QC and QA processes for launch ordnance, system configuration, design, installation, modification, and validation testing.
- Five years of experience with two or more of the following areas is required: igniter/initiator, motor ignition systems, assembly/installation of launch vehicle systems, solids/ordnance/pyrotechnic devices, dynamic testing, contingency planning, and execution of launch operations is highly desired.
- Familiarity with DoD experiments, testing, along with scientific instruments and integrated engineering tools is a plus.
Security Clearance
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a US Government Security Investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.
