Amentum is seeking a high performing Project Engineer II to lead the technical execution of Engineering projects supporting our Environmental Management, Defense, National Security and National Laboratory customers. This is a great position for those looking to transition their career from the Engineering Design track to the Management track.

As an Amentum Project Engineer, you would be responsible for applying both engineering knowledge, management and leadership skills throughout the full lifecycle of projects. Project Engineers must possess a high aptitude for coordinating technical teams through the design integration and evolution process, decoding and spearheading resolution to multi-disciplinary engineering issues, while representing the interest of, and providing best value for our customers.

As a member of the Design Projects team you would be joining an outstanding group of Project Engineers and Project Directors who are dedicated and passionate about leading the successful execution of projects in the nuclear waste treatment, radioactive waste cleanup, environmental management, and advanced clean energy solutions arena. Amentum provides integrated project lifecycle capabilities, operational excellence, consulting services, engineered solutions, and are the best in class leaders with a solid reputation for successful project delivery and customer service.

Minimum Requirements

Must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university in Engineering.

12 years Engineering Experience. No less than 5 years as a licensed professional engineer, with minimum 3 years Project Engineering Management Experience.

Professional Engineering License(s) in Good Standing

Knowledge of quality requirements such as NQA-1

Must be well versed in ASME BPVC and ASME Piping Codes B31.3, B.31.1, as well NFPA and other Life Safety Codes.

3D Modeling / Plant Design Capabilities is required.

Experience in DOE projects or DOE Laboratory Experience is required.

Superb communication and time management skills.

Position will require 10-25% travel.

Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a security clearance.

Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Process and Utility design is highly desirable.

Field experience including engineering, procurement and construction support, startup and commissioning

Experience supervising engineers and subcontractors

Exceptional Verbal, Written and Technical Presentation Skills

Strong Time Management and Organizational Skills

Command of Technical Scope and Scope Control

Multi-Discipline Work Coordination

Cost and Schedule Management

Labor-Hour Estimate Development

Industry Experience

Must demonstrate experience in at least two of the following, preferrably more:

Nuclear waste treatment

Energy Industry Experience

Utilities for balance of plant

Environmental Management

Clean Energy (Hydrogen, Advanced Nuclear)

Must have direct Experience with Federal Agencies, such as the Department of Energy, Department of Defense

Compensation & Benefits

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $143K - $158K Annually (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
