Fire Protection Engineer 3

Job Description

Amentum is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer 3 for the Aiken, SC office.

The Engineer is responsible for perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test,

installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems and generally as a member of a design, analysis or

review team on more complex assignments or as a lead on less complex

assignments.

Essential Responsibilities:

Perform hazard analysis, development of technical documents or review of facility activities in specific areas.

Review of facility modifications for compliance with applicable fire protection codes and standards.

Review fire protection system designs and modifications for compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Perform life safety evaluations for building modifications.

Lead the development of technical reports and position paper for customer submittal.

Interface with customers in design reviews and technical working groups.

Review and approve completion fire protection system inspection, testing, and maintenance.

Act as a lead on complex tasks and responsible for a portion of a design or section of an analysis or design review.

Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.

Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.

Act as the fire protection Subject Matter Expert for multi-million-dollar projects.

Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.

Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.

Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.

Minimum Requirements

Must have obtained a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Fire Protection Engineering.

Minimum of five (5) years of engineering practice in which a minimum of three (3) years the applicant was in responsible charge for diverse fire protection engineering work

Must be capable of applying Protection Engineering principles to problems ranging from simple code consulting to unique and complex technical

problems.

Familiar with NFPA codes and standards, evaluation of fire protection programs and facilities.

Acquainted with development and implementation of fire protection programs

Able to provide Fire Protection engineering project support ranging from small focused scope to large, multi-million-dollar facilities.

Understanding of business development concepts and methods and provides support to proposals as required.

Candidate must be eligible to obtain a DOE Q clearance and access to Commercial Nuclear Facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering preferred.

Previous experience with Department of Energy (DOE) projects is preferred.

PE License preferred.
