Job Summary

The Safety & Mission Assurance Manager is responsible for project-wide safety and mission assurance policies, programs, and initiatives. Represents Amentum in relevant work with appropriate customer counterparts, with authority to make and follow through on commitments.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the department staff including ensuring staff is adequately trained; coordinate workloads, priorities, and schedules to ensure timely and effective completion of work; and monitors and evaluates staff performance.
  • Develops and implements safety, quality, health and welfare, and environmental policies and procedures in compliance with the customer, contract, Amentum, state, and local regulations and requirements.
  • Establishes ES&H culture whereby all employees have the responsibility for continuously
    developing and maintaining a safe and high-functioning work environment.
  • Implements Government-approved Safety and Health Plan and ensures
    workforce complies with its provisions in the performance of work.
  • Investigates and reports any mishaps or accidents.
  • Provides administrative and technical support for safety programs, including action tracking, safety assessments, safety training, and support for OSHA and customer safety initiatives.
  • Serves as Facility Service Manager and coordinates with other organizations that perform maintenance, repair, inspection, and construction services.
  • Oversees quality control of Amentum and subcontractor processes to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Oversees property management to ensure accountability for installation-provided equipment and facilities; directs annual inventory surveys.
  • Promotes ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D quality management system and risk management throughout the organization; modifies work procedures to align with standard.
  • Conducts quality audits on a periodic basis at site locations to ensure compliance with
    contractual requirements.
  • Leads Amentum Safety Committee to address site-related safety, quality, health and welfare, and environmental concerns.
  • Provides guidance to managers and supervisors to assist in interpretation of and compliance with safety and mission assurance requirements.
  • Analyzes data and findings of surveys and audits and directs corrective actions as required.
  • Compiles and distributes reports in accordance with CDRL requirements
  • Participates at corporate level on Amentum Environmental Compliance Committee.
  • Performs other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • US citizenship is required for unescorted access to assigned work area(s).
  • BA/BS in Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, or relevant scientific/technical field.
  • 12+ years of progressive management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recognized certification such as CIH, CSP, CHMM preferred.
