Amentum is seeking a Range Safety Advisor to join our team on Andros Island, Bahamas to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) mission. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Range Safety Advisor (RSA) provides real-time service to the AUTEC Range Users, US Navy Range Safety Officer (RSO), Program Manager, and Program Engineer. The CRSA provides knowledge and expertise of AUTEC range capabilities and range safety requirements and works closely with Test Conductors in the Real-Time Display Center.
  • Responsible for the safe execution of scheduled test operations on AUTEC Ranges and ensures compliance with the AUTEC Range Safety programs.
  • Provides Real-Time Range Safety Support for Tactical Readiness Exercise (TRE) tests, Combat Systems Ships Qualification Trials (CSSQT), Submarine Command Courses (SCC), etc.
  • The CRSA watch standing rotation may involve 24 hour a day coverage, which may be conducted in 12-hour shifts.
  • The CRSA assigns Water-Space for all instrumented range tests, ensures prevention of mutual interference, and verifies water-space enables all testing criteria.
  • Prepares test folders for all tests requiring Range Safety Real Time Support.
  • Keeps required message traffic, Range Day Planning messages, Target Service Request messages, etc. up to date.
  • Reviews Test Plans for compliance with current Range Safety standards.
  • Attends various Range Safety and Test Planning meetings and briefings in order to obtain required information related to scheduled test operations.
  • Provides daily office administration support to the RSO including preparing Pre-test Range Safety briefs, developing and implementing the Range Safety training program, drafting scheduled and supplemental Naval messages.
  • Assists with certification of U.S. Navy personnel to qualify for Range Safety Watch Officer (RSWO).
  • Prepare and conduct Range Safety and Pre-Test Safety briefings.
  • Must be willing to work nights and be on call required to give total support to test operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:

  • BS degree in Electrical, Electronic or Ocean Engineering or in lieu of an engineering degree, 5 years of AUTEC experience within range test operations as a Tracking Controller, Graphic Controller, Test Conductor or equivalent in a direct test support role.
  • In lieu of a degree or 5 years of AUTEC experience, prior military service with at least 5 years of experience in Warfare Operations, Operational Administration, Electronic Systems Operation with an operational background in Submarine, Surface and/or Air warfare and combat systems is acceptable.
  • Must obtain a RSA Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Must have a working knowledge of communications systems, propagation of sound in water, data processing, performance characteristics of U.S. Navy ships and submarines, various aircraft and associated weapons
  • Must be calm and decisive under pressure.
  • The CRSA regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment to meet customer demands in conjunction with keeping range safety in focus.
  • Able to operate independently and as a part of a team comprised of contractor, Range User, Navy and Government personnel.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software products.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Some travel may be required for briefing various Naval Commands.
  • Must be able to reside in remote work location with limited medical facilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport will be required.
