Electronics Technician Maintenance III

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Applies basic and some advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely be referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents including determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering changes.

2. Requires a detailed understanding of the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence, in selecting tools, testing instruments, and is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices.

3. Work may be reviewed by the Supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices.

4. Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs small unmanned ground vehicles and related payloads; micro and mainframe computers and terminals; and industrial measuring, controlling equipment, and industrial calibration devices.

5. This technician works under immediate supervision and achieves technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician.

6. Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operations.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required, associate's or bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or robotics engineering preferred. Minimum five (5) years actual and recent aircraft, vehicle, communications systems or missile repair experience required. Thorough knowledge of technical publications related to maintenance. Clarity of written and oral expression desired. Must have knowledge of the scopes and limitations of various categories of electronic maintenance (related maintenance functions) and their applications to the contract unit. Must know theory and principles of flow of power within an electronic circuit, robotic motion controllers and software, brushless direct current electronic motors and point-to-point communications devices. Must be capable of using and reading schematics, wiring diagrams, block diagrams and data tables. Must be able to inspect, repair, and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment.

Must be willing to attend, and successfully complete, a five-week Robotics Maintenance and Repair Course hosted at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, MI.

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.


Position requires a Secret Clearance.

Position requires approximately 15% travel.

Must have ability to meet physical demands and pass any related medical examination requirements required to perform daily assigned tasks.
