Job Summary

Purpose and Scope:

Perform specific environmental and/or safety support services, investigations and analyses and other directed assignments as either a member of a team or under the close supervision of more senior personnel; implements and maintains policies to comply with all government regulations; performs work surveys through observations and document review.

Essential Responsibilities:

1) Perform analytical and scientific investigative studies related to hazardous waste management and environmental science.
2) Develop programs, systems or processes and directed the activities required to maintain Environmental, Health, and Safety Processes.
3) Review statutory requirements related to one or more environmental, safety and/or health regulations, and assess facility or programmatic compliance.
4) Participate in informal reviews, inspections, and audits using established procedures.
5) Management of hazardous and controlled waste streams, including classification, planning, collection, storage, spill cleanup, and environmentally responsible recycling, treatment, and disposal.
6) Environmental compliance oversight and support waste characterization and disposal activities.
7) Support chemical inventory process, and EPA/FDEP rules, will help ensure LASSO meets and exceeds environmental requirements set forth by EPA, FDEP, KSC and LASSO.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must posses planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelors degree in ES&H-related field, i.e., Environmental, Chemistry, Biology or other sciences. 0-1 years of position related experience. ES&H-related experience may be substituted for educational requirements. Good written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.

US citizenship is required for unescorted access to assigned work area(s). Must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
