Radiation Protection Support Specialist

To provide varied support on RP related aspects of projects and the RP profession within Amentum. This role has a wide scope and requires autonomy in delivery and management of time and resources.

Essential Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior RP Engineer/Head of Profession for RP, the essential responsibilities of the RP Support Specialist are as follows:

  • Working with Radiation Protection Engineers, develop, refine, and deliver the RP training packages required to ensure a common standard and approach to radiation safety for Amentum work.
  • Working with the RP Manager, Supervisors and Trainer, take a leading role in the development of Trainee RP Monitors.
  • Conduct independent reviews of RP related processes, procedures and work practices with a view to drive improvements, efficiencies and to reduce potential exposures.
  • Provide technical support to Rad Engineering teams as required.
  • Perform all other similar related duties as assigned or requested by the Senior RP Engineer/Head of Profession.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Significant previous experience in Radiation Protection, preferably at a nuclear licensed site.

Demonstrable ability in the delivery of workplace training, including the delivery of formalised training to groups.

Relevant qualification (e.g. City & Guilds or NVQ) in Radiation Protection/ Health Physics or other relevant subject.

Must be able to pass any relevant and applicable client training- support will be provided.
