Job Summary

This is the entry and first semi-technical working level for ground support equipment mechanics. Incumbents at this level work under the instruction of a Journey Ground Support Equipment Mechanic and the direction of a Lead Technician and repair and maintain aerospace ground support equipment, aircraft fuel tenders, generator sets, tow tractors, forklifts, and associated equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Possession of the following: a valid Class-C California driver’s license and one year of industry work experience in the repair and maintenance of light equipment, such as generators, power washers, battery-powered equipment, etc.

Knowledge and Abilities:

Maintenance and repair methods, techniques, and practices to perform scheduled inspections; repair and maintenance of aerospace ground support equipment including aircraft jacks, aircraft power units, hydraulic units, forklifts, tow tugs, generator sets, aircraft fuel tenders, and associated equipment; shop operational procedures and shop safety procedures. Perform maintenance and repair on aerospace ground support equipment including aircraft jacks, power units, hydraulic units, forklifts, tow tugs, generator sets, aircraft fuel tenders, and associated equipment; work in a shop environment safely and effectively inspect and assess maintenance problems on ground support equipment and plan for and accomplish preventative maintenance.
