LMS Administrator/Instructional Designer
Job Summary
Amentum is currently seeking an LMS Administrator/Instructional Designer to join the Talent Development/LMS Team. This position will report into the LMS Manager. In this role you will have the opportunity to help build and influence a continuous learning culture, while driving employee engagement and transformation at a global organization with 40k+ employees.
To be successful in this role you will need to be a self-starter, able to work independently or as part of a team, entrepreneurial in nature, who sees projects/assignments through to completion, while looking for ways to continuously improve our employee’s L&D experience. You will need solid knowledge and proven experience administering Learning Management Systems, as well as, adult learning principles and content design. Other key competencies that are required to succeed in this position include the ability to engage as a subject matter expert with internal customers and vendors, effective communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly. Essential Duties Include:
LMS Administration
- LMS administration and management activities
- as an LMS Subject-Matter-Expert (SME) provide system usuage and functionality best practices, identify and communicate opportunities for process and quality improvements, offer feedback on usage, issues, and suggested enhancements
- day-to-day operation of the LMS performed/addressed directly via the application UI
- implementation of system functionality (e.g. learner and manager dashboards, banners, badges)
- act as technical support for LMS technical issues experienced by internal clients
- interface with LMS vendor technical support team
- user management including managing permissions, creation of user groups and learning cohorts, password reset and logon access issues
- manage course enrollments and waitlist registrations
- content management including testing, troubleshooting, and uploading SCORM and non-SCORM content, create curriculums and learning plans
- content assignment based on prerequisites, job role, compliance requirements
- learning activity/campaign set-up, assignment, and administration
- data management
- perform activity/data audits and correct the data to ensure accuracy including deactivating activities
- liaising with the HRIS team to manage Workday/SumTotal interface including daily feed
- reporting and analytics
- facilitation of virtual learning events
- take initiative to stay current on latest products, system releases, processes, and industry trends
Instructional Design
- leverage adult learning and instructional design theories to develop training modules
- apply instructional design theories during internal customer consultations to determine the need, analyze requirements and develop training content
- leverage authoring tools (e.g. Articulate, Toonly) to develop engaging and interactive SCORM based training modules with knowledge checks and evaluations
- develop training in multiple delivery formats including eLearning, virtual, face-to-face, synchronous and asynchronous
- use instructional design principles to evaluate content
- conduct train-the-trainer sessions

Knowledge and Skills
- Experience with multiple publishing and creative software applications, preferably Articulate
- Experience in eLearning development
- Experience with virtual learning platforms
- Working knowledge of adult learning and instructional design theories and models
- Strong interpersonal and consultation skills with the ability to develop and maintain key internal and external business relationships
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Fluent in verbal and written English
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts in non-technical terms
- US citizenship
Preferred Skills:
- Demonstrated working knowledge of:
- Administrative functionality in SumTotal LMS
- Creating SCORM content leveraging Articulate Full Suite to include Rise, Storyline 360, Review 360, Studio 360
- Video content creation using Toonly, Doodly, or a similar application
- Technical facilitation of learning events leveraging ZOOM and Microsoft TEAMS
- Demonstrated working knowledge of:
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree
3-5 years’ relevant work experience in Learning and Development or HR
Minimum 2 years of Learning and Development experience
Minimum 2 year of demonstrated knowledge and experience administering an LMS, preferably SumTotal
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer SumTotal LMS administration experience
