Job Description

Director, Federal Government Relations and Policy:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing federal government advocacy activities with Congressional Democrats and engagement with a Democratic Administration and agencies.
  • As part of the U.S. Federal Government Relations Team, implement public policy positions and advocacy strategy consistent with the company’s business and public policy objectives.
  • Partner with Organon State Government Relations, Global Policy, Global Communications, Legal, and other internal stakeholders on issues requiring coordinated input.
  • Manage external consultants, policy development projects, and budget across therapeutic areas.
  • Assist in building and sustaining Organon’s political action committee.
  • Help develop and maintain Organon’s relationships with the patient advocacy community.
  • Analyze and develop legislative policy positions and recommendations across portfolio issues, including in women’s health and biosimilars.
  • Coordinate Organon engagement in other areas, such as appropriations requests, with a focus on therapeutic impacts.
  • Represent Organon in external-facing roles, including trade associations, third-party organizations, and other situations, as needed.

Education Minimum Requirements:

  • BS/BA required. Master’s or graduate degree preferred.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in federal government relations or a policy role on Capitol Hill or in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • At least 8 years of experience in managing federal government affairs issues and activities related to health care legislation and policy.
  • Demonstrated experience to develop and execute public policy and federal legislative strategy.
  • Experience in analyzing legislation and regulatory proposals.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with high-level executives in healthcare and/or in the federal government.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills.
  • Strong financial budget management and oversight.
  • Ability to thrive in a cross-functional team environment with a global team and mindset.
