Job Summary

This is a temporary position in Germany. Specific information pertaining to deployment period, eligibility for early deployment bonus and completion bonuses will all be provided upon award. Current information indicates that the length of employment could be approximately 6 months. We anticipate government approval of this effort in the next 30 days or less.

Amentum has an exciting opportunity in Germany on the APS-2 contract for a Senior Heavy Equipment mechanic. The Senior Heavy Equipment mechanic performs the full range of heavy wheeled equipment maintenance repairs. Works as part of a team; possible deployment may be required to other sites to perform inspections and repairs on equipment that is either being issued out to or returned from using Units; overtime work hours may be required.

Positions Reporting to this Function: Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Diagnoses system malfunctions, isolate causes, and correct deficiencies for the following types of military heavy equipment: PLS (M1120A4 M1075,) LHS (M1074’s). HEMMTs (M984A4, M978A4, Etc.) FMTVs (M1078-M1089A1P2) STRYKERs, (JLTV’s (1278, 1280A1) and Trailers for equipment i.e.; M1076. M1082, M1095, M870 series to include Flat racks
  • Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using Technical Manuals (TM).
  • Performs annual service on equipment fleet.
  • Performs a full range of overhaul, repair, and service on all Heavy Wheeled equipment maintenance at the Field and Sustainment level of Maintenance.
  • Inspects, repairs, and replaces components, engines, transmissions, and sub-assemblies.
  • Identifies parts in repair manuals and places order request for needed parts.
  • Performs maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on various pieces of wheeled equipment including but not limited to military and civilian engineer equipment.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Able to read and understand Hydraulic and Electric diagrams and schematics.
  • Has experience in hydraulic hose fabrication.
  • Can mentor and teach subordinate mechanic to improve technical ability
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a daily timesheet and daily manning report and ensuring times are accurate.
  • All APS-2 contractor mechanics are expected to provide their own basic mechanics tool set.

Minimum Requirements

Qualification & Experience Requirements: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a heavy equipment mechanic is required.
  • Military Experience preferred.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Must have the ability to analyze and interpret U.S. Army Technical Manuals with relation to vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Will be required to obtain a military driver’s license (OF 346).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of GCCS-A, FEDLOG and office program is plus.
  • ASE certification preferred or other Civilian training or certificates.
