This is a European Union or US National Local Hire Position in Germany. As such the employee will be subject to paying German taxes and be part of the German work force with all the benefits of Host Nation employment and social system. This position is not approved for relocation allowances.

Purpose: The Heavy Equipment Mechanic performs a full range of heavy wheeled equipment maintenance repairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily.

• Diagnoses system malfunctions, isolate causes, and correct deficiencies for the following types of military heavy equipment: PLS (M1120A4 M1075,) LHS (M1074’s). HEMMTs (M984A4, M978A4,
  ) FMTVs (M1078-M1089A1P2) STRYKERs, (JLTV’s (1278, 1280A1) and Trailers for equipment i.e.; M1076. M1082, M1095, M870 series to include Flat racks
• Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using Technical Manuals (TM).
• Performs annual service on equipment fleet.
• Performs a full range of overhaul, repair, and service on all Heavy Wheeled equipment maintenance at the Field and Sustainment level of Maintenance. Inspects, repairs, and replaces components, engines, transmissions, and sub-assemblies.
• Identifies parts in repair manuals and places order request for needed parts. Performs maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on various pieces of wheeled equipment including but not limited to military and civilian engineer equipment.
• Maintains a daily timesheet and daily manning report and ensuring times are accurate.
• Ensure strict compliance to safety practices and support the Amentum Safety Policies and Procedures.
• Instills a safety-first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.
• Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions.
• Perform other as assigned.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

Education: High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience: 1-3 years’ experience as a heavy equipment mechanic is required.

Specialized knowledge and skills:

• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Able to read and understand Hydraulic and Electric diagrams and schematics.
• Must have the ability to analyze and interpret U.S. Army Technical Manuals with relation to vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Must be able to inspect, repair and operate.
• Must have ability to read, interpret and apply TM instructions, publications, and safety rules. Must have ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Additional requirements:

• Must be able to obtain or be in the possession of a valid European Driver’s License, Class B Driver’s License.
• Will be required to obtain a military driver’s license (OF 346).

Work Environment, Physical Demands & Mental Demands:

• Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively.
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
• Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
• Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
