Heavy Equipment Mechanic-Track (GmbH)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily.

1) Diagnoses system malfunctions, isolate causes, and correct deficiencies.

2) Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using Technical Manuals (TM).

3) Understand repair vs replacement of major end items. Lowest level or repair.

4) Inspects, repairs, and replaces components, engines, transmissions, and sub-assemblies.

5) Identifies parts in repair manuals and places order request for needed parts.

6) Performs annual service on equipment fleet.

7) Performs road test on vehicles after repairs and services have been completed.

8) Able to read and understand hydraulic and electrical diagrams and schematics.

9) Experience in hose fabrication and repair

10) Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

11) Performs other duties as assigned.

12) Maintain a daily timesheet and daily manning report and ensuring times are accurate.

13) All APS-2 contractor mechanics are expected to provide their own basic mechanics tool set.

Qualification & Experience Requirements: The requirements listed below are representative of the
knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

1) High School graduate or equivalent.

2) 3 years’ experience as a mechanic is required.

3) Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements and/or educational achievements may

be substituted for years of experience. Example: Two (2) years of experience is equivalent to (2) years of college and vice versa.

4) Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.

Specialized knowledge and skills:

1) Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.

2) Must have the ability to analyze and interpret U.S. Army Technical Manuals with relation to vehicle maintenance and repair.

3) Will be required to obtain a military driver’s license (OF 346).

2) PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Stooping, sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds by themselves-51+ with the

assistance of another person, touching dexterity (hand and finger), carrying, clear seeing-
general, close vision, color perception, clear speech, driving vehicle, moving objects.

• Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively up to a 48-hour work week.
3) WORK ENVIRONMENT

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl;

and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must
occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving
mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions. The employee may

be exposed to situations where risk of electrical shock and vibration exist. The employee is
occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of
radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
