Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS) Project Specialist

Join a team of Research, Design, Test, & Evaluation (RDT&E) professionals who are identifying, developing, demonstrating, and assessing technologies and concepts to help protect America’s homeland in support of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) Office of Mission and Capability Support (MCS).

Amentum is seeking a Project Specialist with Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) experience to support portfolio requirements management, concept development, technical demonstrations, and systems integration initiatives. The successful candidate will drive project execution in collaboration with DHS S&T leaders, DHS Component staffs, contract team members, vendors, and other subject matter experts and supporting organizations.

The position is telework but must be within the vicinity of Washington, DC/the National Capital Region.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Amentum project specialist for customer-focused C-UAS project activities, directly reporting to project leadership to support below activities.

  • Provide C-UAS subject matter expertise to help guide all project execution issues

  • Develop, review, and track capability gap and requirements activities and related project documents

  • Review engineering performance on the project to ensure quality, conformance with conceptual design, and completeness of engineering tasks

  • Develop and review technical description documents and test and evaluation plans

  • Develop and review system integration activities and related project documents

  • Work with vendors and other team members to develop, execute, and assess technology demonstrations and evaluations

  • Review performer/vendor’s technical documentation for accuracy and completeness

  • Advise program management team on matters affecting project success, schedule, and cost impacts, and develop project recovery plans as required

  • Develop and review technical assessments of emerging C-UAS technologies and systems

  • Ensure project compliance with performance, budget, and schedule requirements

  • Represent the organization in meetings and conferences as required

  • Develop purchase requests and track project contract acquired property from delivery through final acceptance by government

  • May supervise other staff members

Min Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship

  • Must be able to pass DHS entry of duty (EOD) requirements to start, and maintain Public Trust suitability status

  • Reside in vicinity of the National Capital Region

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science field and 6 years related work experience, or equivalent

  • Experience with DHS, DoD, or industry for major systems or programs

  • Proficiency with developing schedules, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), dashboards, word-processing, spreadsheets, Microsoft Project, and integrated software applications

  • Up to 20% travel may be required

Preferred Quals:

  • Active Public Trust designation

  • Active secret security clearance

  • Knowledge of C-UAS operations/analysis and/or assessments, testing and evaluation used to detect, identify, monitor, and mitigate UAS

  • Understanding of sUAS threats, electronic and communications systems, components, and materials

  • Knowledge of DHS, DoD, or other law enforcement C-UAS efforts during the last five years

  • Experience using MESH networking communications equipment

  • Knowledge of Android Team Awareness Kit

  • FAA part 107 license
