Overview:

Conducts daily academic instruction on regulations, publications, and aircraft systems and aircraft maintenance in accordance with (IAW) approved Program of Instruction (POI). Creates and updates training records on course students when required and recommend administrative action IAW the Ministry of National Guard (MNG) SOP. Conducts POI on practical exercises, training support and after action reviews. Trains Mechanics how to perform aircraft maintenance tasks on the AH-6I as required using the specific OEM Operators Manual, Maintenance Test Flight Manual, Check List Manual and any other directives pertinent to the environment. Conducts training on removal and installation of aircraft systems and subsystem assemblies and components including engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components. Trains student how to service and lubricate aircraft systems, subsystems, and components; prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks; perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance actions; use common measuring tools, precision measuring gages and alignment fixtures; perform aircraft and related components routine and special inspections; perform maintenance operational checks; diagnose and troubleshoot aircraft subsystems using special tools and equipment as required; and use and perform operator maintenance on tools, special tools and Aircraft Ground Support E Equipment (AGSE) Prepares aircraft maintenance forms and records. Ensures that all related maintenance training is conducted in a safe manner.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Conduct daily academic instruction on topics to include regulations and publications, aircraft systems and aircraft maintenance IAW course Lesson Plans (LP) and POI. Maintains training records on formal course students when required and recommends administrative action IAW the MNG SOP. Conducts POI practical exercises, training support and after action reviews. Conducts academic evaluations of students to ensure retention of training material. Assist with the update, development, and implementation of POI courseware and Lesson Plans (LP). Oversees the daily academic training to ensure compliance with approved AH-6I POI. Reports academic training deficiencies to the AFSS Lead for reporting to the Director of Aviation Training. Supervises individuals as assigned. Ensures all maintenance training activities are conducted in a safe manner. Performs within the broad guidelines of duties and responsibilities with significant choice of methods. Authority to select and implement goals and objectives within the execution of duties and responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education Level: High School Diploma Required.

Experience: Three (3) years’ experience as an aircraft mechanic on an OH-58D / AH-64D/E Aviation Maintenance Technician required. Qualified by the appropriate USG armed force aircraft mechanic maintenance course or civilian equivalent training required. Five (5) years’ experience as an aircraft mechanic on AH-6I / AH-64D/E desired.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements: Knowledge of Aviation training concepts, administration, and logistics. Demonstrated past performance in the development of Programs of Instruction, policies, and operational procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with foreign military students in a professional and courteous manner. Possess a valid driver’s license.
