Job Summary

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Typical Responsibilities Include:

Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.

Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.

Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.

Work in close proximity to a demilitarization facility.

Operate vehicles including automobiles, pickup trucks, trucks, and truck tractors with trailer or semi trailer coupled by use of a turntable or pintail hook.

Couples and uncouples trailers by manipulating fifth wheel, pintail hooks, lunettes, safety chains, brake hoses, and electrical connections.

Follows Safety Data Sheet guidelines for handling, storage, and disposal of Hazardous Materials.

Performs work responsibilities with supervisory guidance, applying accepted craft or trade techniques, good housekeeping practices, and safe, efficient work procedures.

Develops load data and distributes and secures cargo accordingly.

Installs protective covering as necessary.

Marks dangerous or protruding cargo and attaches chains to vehicles.

Assists with the loading and unloading of the truck; including operating MHE and location of material in the storage site, when the driver's absence from the truck will not create a safety or security problem.

Performs operator inspections of assigned equipment, documents deficencies on designated checklist and submits to Vehicle Maintenance for repair actions.

Determines malfunctions, advises repairman, and prepares write-ups.

Services equipment by replenishing items such as coolant, fuel, oil, and air as appropriate.

Drains air tanks, filters, pumps, and segregators.


Minimum Requirements

Must be a United States or naturalized citizen able to obtain/maintain Hawthorne Army Depot (HWAD) site access

Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment

Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any HWAD drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement

Ability to communicate clearly during normal and crisis situations.

Must have Organizational skills and ability to perform detail-orientated work.

Demonstrated willingness to be a team player.

Minimum of two (2) years experience operating tractor trailers and performing related operator maintenance required.

Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications required by Amentum’s Master Training Plan.

Must be able to perform work duties routinely, in a safe and effective manner, remaining alert and aware of potential work/safety hazards at all times, and especially alert, while performing safety sensitive duties.

Must have a valid State, Class A, CDL driver’s license.

Must be able to obtain within 60 days of employment and remain current with all Hazardous Material and Tanker endorsements.

Must maintain the valid Class A, CDL and certifications during the course of employment.

Must also be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and be favorably vetted through the NCIC III System. Basic Qualifications:

High school diploma/equivalent.

Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Must be willing to work overtime, varying hours and/or rotating shifts.

Must be willing and able to be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.

Must be willing and able to work in a procedurally compliant environment.

Must be willing and able to work in an environmental and safety compliant environment.

Must be willing and able to wear various levels of personal protective equipment

SAFETY SENSITIVE

This position is designated as a safety sensitive position and is subject to the requirements of the HWAD Medical Surveillance Plan and Matrix and the HWAD A&D Program. As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, drug testing, medical exam and respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by 29 CFR and Army Regulations: AR 190-11, AR 190-13 and DOD Contractors Safety Manual 4145.26

Possesses the ability to back in tractor and trailer and maneuver in tight areas in a safe manner.

•Possesses general knowledge of various types of tractors, trailers, roll-offs, and other equipment.
•Possesses the ability to work effectively, safely and independently while following all applicable regulations.
