Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) Technician (3740-060) (3740-060)
Functions as the Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) technician under the direction of the ALSE Lead Technician. Performs technical inspections, tests, maintenance, requisitioning, issuing, and repairing of aviation life support equipment and survival equipment, to include flotation equipment, over water gear, anti-exposure suites, first aid kits, survival vests and kits, radios, aircrew body armor, restraint harnesses, flight helmets, chemical and biological protective masks, oxygen masks, and other related ALSE equipment. Train Customer and contractor personnel as required in the use of all applicable technical publications, tools, test equipment, and special equipment applicable to this discipline, thereby enabling them to become effective Aviation Life Support Equipment Specialists. Ensures that all related operations are conducted in a safe manner.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Train Customer and contractor Aviation selected personnel on annual ALSE requirements per US Army Aviation regulations and procedures. Inspection, repair, cleaning, maintenance, issuing, receiving, and documentation of ALSE, night vision goggles, and radios. Development and maintenance of an ALSE library. Supply and equipment inventories and ordering as required. Other tasks as directed by the Production Control Supervisor. Performs within the broad guidelines of duties and responsibilities with significant choice of methods. Retain the authority to select and implement goals and objectives within the execution of duties and responsibilities. Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Education Level: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of a US Military Aviation Life Support Equipment Course required. Civilian equivalent education may be reviewed for substitution.
Experience: Three (3) years’ experience serving as an ALSE Technician.
Specific knowledge, skill, and ability: Demonstrated knowledge and experience of rotary wing Aviation operations inclusive of basic maintenance, and aviation logistics. Certificates: US Military Aviation Life Support Equipment Course. Proficient in the use of computer-hosted interactive technical manuals, aircraft maintenance forms, and other aircraft related documentation. Proficient in MS Office software. Professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with the customer in a professional and courteous manner. Possess a valid driver’s license. Successfully pass physical upon hire. Desired/Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience: Former ALSE instructor. Prior experience working on Army Rotary Wing specific ALSE and experience working with Desert and over-water ALSE gear. Demonstrated past performance in the development of organizational plans, policies, and operational procedures. Graduate of PLDC/WLC or equivalent.
