FOIA Paralegal

The FOIA Paralegal will assist on the current backlog of 2,400 requests within the EOUSA FOIA/PA office, and the performance production of the current FOIA case management system.

  • Will assist in processing FOIA responsive records received from the respective United States Attorneys’ Offices (USAO) throughout the United States, Guam, the Marianas Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • The FOIA/PA’s office current staffing and litigation responsibilities is requiring this additional support to sustain consistent processing of these requests in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of paralegal/legal assistant experience.
  • Prior experience performing legal research using a variety of databases.
  • Must be able to track records and provide recommend course of actions/final disposition of records requests.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills required.
  • Hands-on experience with a variety of computer applications to support research and correspondence preparation.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain a high-level of productivity without sacrificing accuracy.

Preferred:

  • Experience with the Freedom of Information (FOIA) and Privacy Act preferred. Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Experience with legal writing preferred.
