Amentum is seeking a Program Manager to oversee programmatic, science, engineering, operations and project management support for such efforts as biosciences flight development projects (e.g., mission implementation, instrument development, and technology advancement efforts), collaborative science programs (e.g., astrobiology, virtual institutes), aeronautics research projects at NASA Ames Research Center at Moffett Field in Mountain View, CA.

The Program Manager is fully responsible for the overall operation of a project/contract to include the safety and well being of its employees, safeguarding company funds and property, and generally represents the company with respect to the client. Project Managers complete projects to the satisfaction of the client, consistent with cost, schedule and contractual requirements. They ensure that established company goals are realized while maintaining client relations that will enhance future business.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Leads and motivates desired behaviors (e.g., coaching the project team and mentoring one or more individuals).
  • Capable of managing Project Directors, Sr. Project Directors, and/or Project Managers.
  • Leads by example with integrity and candor.
  • Leads proposal efforts for large/complex and/or mega projects.
  • Able to lead multi-Groups and/or joint venture teams on “impact” projects.
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to proactively identify potential project problems or opportunities, analyze the issues using all appropriate resources, develop alternatives, and arrive at the most optimum approach to mitigate problems or exploit opportunities.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of resources and capabilities of other Groups for appropriate incorporation into project organization.
  • Capable of developing and taking responsibility for the Project Execution Plan development for large/complex and/or mega projects.
  • Participates in contract negotiations. Understands sharing or risk transfer based on the Prime Contract.
  • Clearly understands scope of work and all contract requirements.
  • Participates with BD and BU management in assessment, strategic development, and negotiations with customers.
  • Capable of leading strategic negotiations with customers, major suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • May serve as the Proposal Manager of major multi- faceted projects.
  • Leads formal presentations to clients and/or management with support of others.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • US citizenship is required for unescorted access to assigned work area(s).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Facility Management or other relevant discipline OR demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Fifteen (15) plus years of applicable professional experience.
  • Supervisory experience of large multi- tiered organizations required.
  • Has a record of proven performance as a Senior Project Director on previous projects. Capable of performing as the project manager on a high-risk, high-complexity project.
