Job Summary

Amentum is looking for a Logistics Manager to join our team in Chantilly, VA. As a Logistics Manager, you will provide leadership and direction of the supply chain employee activities. Planning and coordinating the ordering and distribution of products, parts and accessories. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must have an active Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the success operation of the Logistics department to include Supply Support Operations, Requisition Processing, Inventory, Hazardous Material Management, Research and Cataloging, Purchasing and Acquisition, Receiving, Warehousing, Garage Operations, Equipment Management and Administrative Support Services.
  • Manage staff and resources for the Logistics function
  • Set and administer operating standards and policies for the department.
  • Establish and manage operating budgets for the logistics programs and departments.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the overall effective logistics program to support the initiatives and directives of the customer.
  • Evaluate and recommend new initiatives and methodology in the logistics area based on requirements and priorities.
  • Participate with the customer to assist in supporting the strategic direction of the logistics department.
  • Act as the company liaison with other contractors and the customer for planning, implementing and coordinating logistics initiatives.
  • Ensures adequate and timely distribution to attain maximum inventory turn potential consistent with good inventory control.
  • Develops and implements customer service functions, physical distribution warehousing, operation and traffic strategies.
  • Implements the multi-plant, multi-distribution system and logistics strategic planning.
  • Establishes and executes policies, programs and procedures to support market delivery requirements.
  • Manages the ongoing distribution functions and appropriate interfaces.
  • Creates physical distribution network capable of achieving proper inventory levels and identifies hardware and software requirements to support distribution.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in business or related field.
  • Two (2) years experience in accounting may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college.
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of experience in one or more of the following: logistics services, material management, transportation, material handling, use of information systems in logistics management.
  • Must be familiar with current systems/ methodology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of logistics and distribution systems.
  • Proven results in dealing with internal and external customer requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills; must possess planning/organizing and leadership skills and a valid drivers license.
  • Position may require minimal amount of local travel.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have an active Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 50 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must posses planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
