DPM/IT Project Manager

Purpose and Scope:

Analyze, schedule, organize and coordinate multiple IT projects and initiatives using appropriate project management and scheduling methodologies. Perform project management activities as needed to plan, design, and coordinate complex projects and to ensure effective implementation and communication of such projects with management, employees, and external customers as appropriate.

Essential Responsibilities:

1) Perform project management duties in support of process changes and advanced technology designed to improve efficiencies across the organization. Ensure resources are efficiently allocated as required to support IT projects; ensuring consistent, efficient project implementation, maintenance and completion.

2) Review project requirements and support the development of individual and integrated schedules to establish priorities.

3) Determine resource availability, including internal and external resources and their capability to complete resource objectives.

4) Work with Project Leads in developing project plans, project baselines, detailed critical path/workflow, and schedules.

5) Analyze project requirements, ensuring that required resources are available or in process for availability so that established schedules may be reasonably maintained.

6) Review and analyze schedules and coordinates with both internal and external customers and project teams to obtain data concerning the status of planned or assigned projects or milestones.

7) Evaluate concepts, new technologies, proposed projects and other related data for feasibility of implementation. Make recommendations as to alternative methods, processes, or technologies that may be utilized to efficiently achieve and maintain desired customer results.

8) Review project schedule data to include records of activities, verifying open/close dates, cost/budgets, and associated data as applicable to activities.

9) Ensure all the necessary documentation is generated, reviewed, issued, and properly archived.

10) Interface directly with internal and external customers to communicate status of projects and corrective actions that may be required to ensure conformance to established schedules.

11) Prepare and present project management reports that reflect accurate cost and schedule status and/or corrective actions as required.

12) Plan and prepare schedules for coordinating testing and implementations including coordination with various affected parties.

13) Work closely with other project and functional managers to ensure all schedules are effectively communicated and strategic solutions are developed as needed to meet required milestones.

14) Establish procedures for project management and control. Interpret and ensure compliance with established procedures.

15) Provide presentations to stakeholders and management as regarding project details and new technologies as appropriate.

16) Manage project status reports to ensure proper documentation is maintained and completed.

17) May lead or serve on committees and/or corrective action teams as required.

18) Proactively identify potential project problems or opportunities, analyze the issues using all appropriate resources, develop alternatives, and arrive at the most optimum approach to mitigate problems or exploit opportunities.

19) Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others. Assess the feasibility and soundness of proposed evaluations, products, or equipment when necessary data are insufficient or confirmation by testing is advisable.

20) Maintain liaison with individuals and units within and outside the division to ensure adequate communication and coordination across the company.

21) Provide recommendations to management concerning the resolution methods for unusual problems and developments. Independently makes decisions regarding problems and performs duties necessary to correct such problems.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Bachelor_s degree in related field or demonstrated equivalent experience and (5) years of related work experience. Must have the ability to independently apply advanced techniques and analysis for complex methods on a continual basis. Must demonstrate experience in oversight of and working with people of varied backgrounds and myriad objectives. Must be able to reach consensus on complex issues in a timely manner, and manage others in performing interrelated tasks in an efficient, effective and timely manner. Must be able to communicate technical and related budgetary and planning information, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to maintain cognizance of developments in assigned field of expertise. Attainment of the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute is recommended. Position will require some travel. May require the ability to pass and maintain a security clearance.
