Quality Control Manager

The Quality Assurance Manager supervises, and coordinates activities of workers engaged in inspecting and testing products, applying knowledge of quality assurance standards and procedures. Also responsible for reviewing quality assurance instructions, specifications, and schedules to determine method of conducting inspections and tests, sequence of operations, and work assignments. Directs workers in quality assurance inspection and testing, to assure that establishment and regulatory standards are met. Assigns training of new workers to qualified workers. Reviews reports and confers with personnel to solve work-related problems. Establishes and maintains a process for evaluating processes and associated documentation. Determines the resources required for quality control. Maintains the level of quality throughout the life cycle. Conducts formal and informal reviews at pre-determined points throughout the life cycle. Additionally, the Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers engaged in inspecting incoming materials, in process components, and finished fabricated products to ensure adherence to contractual quality standards. Writes inspection procedure, indicating areas to be examined, measuring devices to be used, and maximum and minimum acceptable dimensions.

Essential Responsibilities:

1) Develop and maintain the health and safety environmental policies and procedures to protect the safety of the public, US Air Force, and Contractor personnel. Comply with corporate, state, federal and local regulations and contract requirements.

2) Deliver and track new employee safety orientations. Develop and deliver training programs in a manner that raises employee awareness and enables employees and supervisors to work safely.

3) Participate in the safety committee meetings to bring union and management employees together as a team to address site related safety, health and environmental concerns.

4) Coordinate with Subcontractor Safety and Environmental personnel and federal/local government agencies. Provide guidance to managers and supervisors to assist them in the interpretation of and compliance with quality related contract requirements.

5) Correspond with insurance loss control experts and claim representatives to strengthen the company workers compensation and loss prevention program. .

6) Assist human resources with a credible workers compensation program including developing a strong return to work policy.

7) Continuously monitor and evaluate employee exposure to work conditions and make recommendations for accident prevention. Evaluate a changing work environment for hazards and identify means to eliminate and/or control the hazards.

8) Maintain safety, health and environmental records. Support issuance of work permits for continued improvements of quality and safety.

9) Conduct special evaluations, quality surveys and audits. Compile reports and findings of surveys and audits for company officials for review and make action recommendations as required.

10) Conduct accident investigations. Complete and maintain required reporting.

11) Maintain current files of all technical documents, instructions, procedures and requirements necessary for implementation of an effective quality assurance program.

12) Perform Gap analysis to applicable certification

13) Review, develop and create procedures and processes to ensure best practices are being implemented and maintained at sites.

14) Monitor Subcontractor performance to ensure compliance with Government directives (Performance Work Statement, Statement of Work, etc.), document deficiencies, and inform program leadership of any issues in this regard.

15) Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

High School or equivalent required; Bachelors degree in Quality Assurance, Engineering, Business Management or related field preferred. Six (6) to seven (7) years of experience or equivalent training/experience. Strong written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
