EH&S Manager

Amentum is seeking an EH&S Manager to support our team of skilled technicians in a multi-site operations and maintenance services environment. Under general supervision of the EHS Director, the EHS Manager performs work in a wide range of EHS disciplines by leveraging knowledge of EHS concepts, practices, and procedures.

The position will provide EHS support to the site teams in day-to-day operations by offering solutioning for identified EHS concerns. The position supports site teams to achieve compliance with federal/state/local EHS regulatory requirements and assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs. The position monitors and reports hazards and adverse conditions found in work areas and investigates incidents, injuries, and complaints concerning workplace hazards.

The position also recommends improvements in process, design, procedures, and equipment to reduce risk and conducts employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs. A key function is provision of regulatory interpretation and technical advice and guidance to the safety committee and/or support personnel.

Compensation & Benefits
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $107,462.78 - $169,763.78 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts safety audits and inspections, investigates incidents, and maintains injury/illness data.

  • Provides regulatory interpretation, technical advice, and recommendations for corrective actions for identified hazards.

  • Evaluates, plans, and administers training programs, as well as other EHS related procedures.

  • Recommends improvements in processes, procedures, and equipment to minimize hazards.

  • Collaborates with client/site EHS personnel to address potential hazards or unsafe conditions.

  • Develops plans, procedures, and policies to continuously improve the EHS program.

  • Performs root cause analysis and provides guidance toward appropriate corrective action.

  • Develops, coordinates, and executes an effective safety training program and recordkeeping and reporting system.

  • Provides leadership and direction in all areas of a risk assessment, loss control, regulatory compliance, and safety program.

  • Establishes and implements organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures.

  • Monitors and evaluates program and operational effectiveness, and recommend changes required for improvement.

  • Plans, develop strategies, and provides advice for risk management policy, including EHS performance records.

  • Keeps abreast of regulatory developments and obtains insight on legislative agendas at state and federal levels.

  • Serves as an advisor to the EHS Manager and Site Manager regarding risk management.

  • Performs other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • Hold a BS Degree in Safety, Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental or a related discipline from an accredited source.

  • Possess 1-3 years of experience in an EHS role and knowledge of EHS in a facilities or production maintenance environment.

  • Must be US Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident. If offered position, must pass pre-employment background check and substance abuse testing.

  • Fluency in computer use, e.g., Microsoft Office suite, and ability to access data, and send/receive messages.

  • Attend meetings among locations in the area, with the possibility of some air travel.

  • Communicate via phone, video and in one-on-one or group meetings. write reports and business correspondence.

  • Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.

  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the public.

  • Work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistics, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry.

  • Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. and move up to medium weight items in an office environment.

  • Regularly climb ladders and stairs and move in a 90-degree fashion during shift.

  • Flexibility to bend, stretch, reach, stoop, kneel and squat repetitively and walk extensively throughout the campus during shift.

  • Occasionally use a Company/Client approved utility knife and perform work requiring repetitive wrist movement during shift.

  • Differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding and other equipment and/or signage.

Special Requirements and Additional Information:

  • Position requires the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location and may require a valid Driver’s License.

  • Wear all required PPE, including approved safety footwear, safety eyewear, gloves, hard hat, and other items as needed.

  • Cope with work demands and conditions (stressors) while maintaining acceptable levels of performance and contribution.

  • Position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative schedules which can change based on business needs.
