Quality Coordinator

Amentum is currently looking for a Quality Coordinator at Offutt Air Force Base, NE.

A successful candidate will support the Defense Prisoner of War/Missing in Action (POW/MIA) Accounting Agency (DPAA) by assisting the ongoing evaluation of quality, effectiveness, efficiency and utility of laboratory operations and outputs as they relate to laboratory accreditation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Evaluates the quality, effectiveness, efficiency and utility of laboratory operations as they relate to the laboratory accreditation program
  • Assures the effective implementation of policies and programs through extensive evaluation and direct management action
  • Implements prescribed internal controls to eliminate or minimize the potential for fraud, waste, abuse, mismanagement and inefficiency
  • Completes internal control checklists for all functional areas within established time frames and reports results
  • Maintains training program records
  • Formulates and recommends action critical to improving the timeliness and quality of laboratory products
  • Serves as the DPAA Lab-Offutt focal point for all technical and administrative activities as they relate to the maintenance of the DPAA Information Management and Data Governance Council with regard to Systems Administrative support
  • Reviews and critiques case documentation for administrative adequacy and accuracy, ensuring that the scientific methodology and analysis meets the professional standards required by the lab accreditation program
  • Utilizes appropriate project management techniques to plan, coordinate, and develop program execution plans and other plans for everyday and special laboratory projects
  • Prepares timely management data, laboratory resource requirements and individual project data summaries
  • Coordinates with lab administrators concerning the acquisition of goods and services pertaining to the modernization and sustainment of the lab relevant to the quality assurance program
  • Serves as a Security Manager for the Central Identification Laboratory (CIL) where security issues directly impact the laboratory management system
  • Conducts informal inquiries and investigations to ensure compliance with requirements of Laboratory Management System (ISO/IEC 17025, ANAB Guidelines, and the Laboratory Manual)
  • Tracks work progress and evaluates current laboratory accessions
  • Conducts surety checks on DPAA Lab-Offutt test reports and forensic review documents
  • Ensures that laboratory cases that reach completion are closed IAW DPAA CIL standard operating procedure
  • Assists in all DNA samples, comparison and FRS requests through coordination and correspondence with the Lead Case Coordinator and the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory (AFDIL)
  • Assists in the compilation of quarterly and yearly reports concerning lab productivity, to include basic laboratory progress data
  • Occasionally travel nationally and perhaps internationally (travel anticipated to be approximately 5-10%)
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • B.A./B.S. or M.A/M.S. degree in physical or life sciences
  • 3 years of forensic experience
  • Strong understanding of forensic laboratory accreditation requirements and compliance (ISO/IEC-17025 and ISO-19011)
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • The above experience should demonstrate the capability to deliver products under conditions of high operational tempo, frequently adjusting priorities and flux in requirements, on time. It should also demonstrate the ability to interface effectively with senior members of external organizations to develop and support technical positions, to justify technical recommendations, and communicate effectively in both oral and written formats.
