Job Summary

SURETY

This position is designated as a chemical duty position and is subject to the requirements of the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program. As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, urinalysis testing, medical exam and respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by Army Regulation 50-6.

Require routine access to chemical surety materials.

Are authorized to escort visitors to areas containing chemical surety materials.

Control direct access to chemical surety material.

Issue proximity cards, personal identification numbers (PINs), keys, combinations, biometric codes, or any other mechanism that provides direct access to chemical surety material.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / TASKS

  • Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.
  • Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
  • Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.
  • Plans work schedules and sequence of operations for Waste Operators.
  • Establish deadlines and priorities for Waste Operators.
  • Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures to Waste Operators.
  • Instruct Waste Operators in new procedures and provides advice when problems arise.
  • Investigate work-related problems and determine cause and suitable resolution.
  • Develop short- and long-range plans to accomplish established goals; define resources needed to achieve production objectives; and provide data for budgetary development.
  • Determine equipment, supplies, and maintenance required.
  • Coordinate work with other departments as necessary.
  • May interviews candidates for vacancies and recommends selection.
  • Approve leave time of assigned staff.
  • Evaluate personnel training and certification requirements.
  • Generate work requests as necessary.
  • Keep areas of responsibility clean and organized.
  • Ensure all non-equipment activities are performed IAW approved project SOPs and/or applicable regulatory documents.
  • Assess performance of Waste Operators against established departmental and project goals and participates in solving problems identified by technicians.
  • Ensure department logs and required records are timely, accurate, legible, and processed IAW the PCAPP Plant Conduct Manual.
  • Review regulations and directives as well as technical data packages to determine actions or changes required to meet production requirements.
  • Ensure adequate inventory of hard good and consumable items associated with Waste Management usage.
  • May serve in absence of Waste Management Superintendent
  • Perform minor maintenance and housekeeping as required.
  • Must obtain/maintain Waste Management training certification.
  • Must obtain/maintain US DOT training to manage and load waste/hazardous materials for off-site shipment.
  • Must obtain/maintain current lift truck license and overhead crane certification.
  • Prepare Safety Task Analysis Risk Reduction Talk (STARRT) cards, work permits, safety permits, and work authorizations as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assign, supervise and direct work activities of assigned personnel.

Responsible for performance evaluations of assigned personnel.

Responsible for training and development of assigned personnel.

Counsel assigned personnel on company policies, procedures, performance and personnel issues.

Compensation & Benefits

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $82,868.03 - $104,849.06 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

This position includes participation in the PCAPP Employee Retention Incentive Benefit Plan, which provides a financial incentive encouraging personnel to remain employed by Amentum at the PCAPP project through a specified timeframe provided qualifiers are met.


Minimum Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school or equivalent education, a minimum of 3 years experience as a hazardous waste or hazardous materials operator in an industrial environment and some supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen or naturalized citizen able to obtain and maintain PCAPP site access.
  • Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, varying hours and/or rotating shifts.
  • Must be willing and able to work in an industrial environment that is in close proximity to and/or in a chemical demilitarization facility.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experienced in DOT and RCRA regulations for waste management.
  • Must be detail oriented and have ability to solve complex problems and understand the impact of decisions upon the operation of the facility.
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical documents, including specifications, drawings, test plans, standard operating procedures and system demonstration procedures.
  • Possess strong organizational skills with ability to coordinate and prioritize projects, adapting to changes as they occur.
  • Must have good communication skills to provide technical assistance, presentations, and/or training to personnel.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of working in toxic/hazardous materials environment in a chemical process, industrial, demilitarization, construction, oil or gas industry
  • Experience in Work Management/Control
  • Experience in implementation and supervision of Conduct of Operations Program
  • Knowledge of military and civilian chemical personal protective equipment
  • Certified senior level operator at a chemical demilitarization facility
