Supply Technician

Job Summary

Perform all aspects of technical supply management work for US Navy. (e.g., inventory management, storage management, cataloging, property utilization) related to organizational maintenance, depot, local, or other organizational level supply activities.

Essential Responsibilities:

Responsible for inventory management of decentralized and decontrolled items, including supplies, and equipment. Responsible for material coordination for special programs, maintenance, or production shops. Responsible for cataloging supply channels of a particular agency or field establishment. Works within a framework of established supply regulations, policies, and procedures, or other governing supply management guidelines. Coordinates with a variety of operating officials regarding limited aspects of program needs of the organization serviced. Contacts may relate to inventory requirements in a stable or standardized organization and to the adequate description or identification of less complex items which are new to the system. May contact representatives of commercial firms to obtain information regarding new items of supply, item characteristics, or procurement lead time; or representatives of government agencies (Federal, State or local) regarding the utilization of property. Perform as manager of the tool control program. Verify materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages. Perform tool room management IAW Tool Control Program, Metrology and Calibration Program, Individual Material Program Coordinator. Storing, stacking, or inventorying materials and tools in accordance with OPNAV 4790. Rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials. Operate hand or power trucks in performing duties. Perform miscellaneous quality assurance duties including inspections, inventory process checks, inspecting and examining materials, article inspections, etc. Performs aviation maintenance material control function in support of activities assigned aircraft. Knowable with and able to preform work in following Operational Target (OPTAR) and Aviation Fleet Maintenance (AFM) funding requirements. Contractor’s support of the Material Control Division. Order and receive aircraft parts and material. Expediting repairable and consumable material requisitions through the supply system and informing Maintenance Control on status changes Track and reconcile daily fuel expenditures. Produce monthly OPTAR report message to TYCOM. Prepare Transmittal Listings as required by TYCOM. Perform monthly and end of fiscal year financial close-out of fuel and flight gear expenditures. Maintain pack-up and pre-expended bin inventories. Maintain Flight Packet inventory. Produce daily Aircraft Material Readiness Report Perform Hazardous Material Control and Management Supervisor functions. Coordinates limited aspects of technical supply related to local supply activities. Responsible for maintaining material requirements list, inventories, bench stock (expendable items), critical items list, receipt, storage and issue records, coordinates, processes and expedites supply transactions. Orders parts as defined by Aircraft Mechanics and Navy Technical Manuals. Determines and forecasts material requirements, and establishes minimum stock levels. Prepares documentation necessary for turn-in or repair of repairable components. Analyzes to define or recognize the dimension of problems involved, collects the necessary data to establish the facts, and takes or recommends action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 50 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Navy Logistics Specialists (LS) - Aviation Supply System Specialist NALCOMIS Optimized NEC S18A; Aviation squadron organizational maintenance LS experience 3 Years minimum.

  • 2 years Navy Tool Program Manger experience.

  • Must be able to Build or maintain/manage or if assigned by Site Manger as program coordinator program in accordance with COMNAVAIRFORINST 47904790 all present and future versions.

  • Must be able to work with foreign counties/cultures. Work side by side with people of different culture and languages.

  • If Assigned: Liaise with CHSMWP squadrons and other commands within the military to ensure all equipment and aircraft are fully supported with required to complete their required military or civilian missions; FRC, CNAP/CNAL, PMA-299, PMA-266, PMS-485 other commands and activities to interchange information and ensure appropriate and timely support to CHSMWP activities.

Coordinate with CHSMWP’s Configuration Manager to ensure proper configuration of all RME kits. Keep the Maintenance Officer apprised of the RME program status.

  • Knowledgeable of governing supply systems/programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals or other established guidelines. Analytical ability to define problems, collect necessary data, establish facts, and to take recommended action based upon applicable established guidelines.

  • All Work Site Positions: Job descriptions and responsibilities shall change with changes to US Navy Mission and needs.

  • Must be able to work all shifts. Full time employment; but 40 hour is not guaranteed per-week. Working hours; must be able to be flexible, start time and end time will be dependent on flight schedule and or overall tasking.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a government driving permit and forklift qualification.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Common Access Card (CAC).

  • Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check.

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
  • Housekeeping of all areas of work including shop; participate in FOD program.

  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

U.S. Navy Supply background preferred.
