Technical Editor

  • Responsible for the technical editing written intelligence products, including daily COCOM level intelligence briefings, detailed all-source intelligence products, and several other intelligence products
  • Support program management staff in developing a broad range of written products in support of COCOM senior leadership and client stakeholders.
  • Edit, format, and publish daily, weekly, monthly, and semi-annual products using a variety of software applications and dissemination platforms.
  • Apply corporate writing standards, critical thinking skills, and expertise in grammar, punctuation, and copy editing to identify and resolve editorial issues and inconsistencies in complex text and graphics.
  • Review product sources to ensure the material is accurately presented and written in accordance with appropriate technical writing standards
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently and efficiently; adheres to production timelines; ensure the delivery of high-quality products on or before deadline.
  • Brief team, senior management, and clients on the status of production, anticipates and negotiates scheduling issues, facilitate senior review, incorporate reviewers’ comments, and finalize products for publication.
  • Monitor and update production databases; provides recommendations to improve corporate style guidance as necessary.
  • Update and maintain the industry standard abbreviation and word lists, templates, and grammar and style reminders.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS or MA/MS Degree with 3-10 year of writing and editing experience
  • Active TS/SCI clearance at the time of application
  • Experience with: Gathering, analyzing, and presenting complex data effectively to corporate and client leadership.
  • Using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams)
  • Creating/Modifying graphics, tables, and other visual elements
  • Using Adobe Creative Suite or other electronic and web publishing SW
  • Project management, business process improvement, organizational transformation, and digital transformation projects - Working with or in the Intelligence Community
  • Knowledge of desktop publishing, internet networks, page layout and design, and publication styles
  • Firm grasp DOD and Intelligence Community technical writing standards, in particular the DIA Style Manual Ability to be a self-starter, working independently and as part of a team, while adapting to competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meeting deadlines with limited supervision

Additional Job Description

  • This position requires a flexible work schedule with core between the hours of (6AM-6PM)
  • There is a possibility of shift work (including weekends) during periods of increased OPTEMPO
  • Very little work related travel – less than 5 days per year
