Overview

This Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing world class manufacturing through more efficient and effective methods of producing products and processes, focusing on safety, service, quality, and agility through process improvements. This is a key role who defines and specifies the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for testing, and evaluating the product to established standards.



Responsibilities

  • Evaluate existing and implement new processes and automation techniques to improve product flow, part quality and first pass yields to reduce product cost and lead time
  • Create/revise part instructions and routings and train personnel on the use, set-up, maintenance of equipment
  • Initiate and lead lean-sigma projects on key business processes to improve customer satisfaction, eliminate waste, reduce product lead time, improve cost effectiveness and product quality
  • Promote and implement use of continuous improvement tools to eliminate non-value-added activities
  • Work with production personnel to attain 100% on-time shipping performance by eliminating quality issues, improving capacity on bottle-neck processes and providing round-the-clock support
  • Lead 8D Problem Solving Teams in failure analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective and preventative action activities for customer complaint resolution and internal manufacturing defect resolutions
  • Ensures feedback and corrective action communication and implementation is consistent with customer expectations
  • Participates on New Product Development Teams (development of FMEA and Control Plans, data collection and analysis, etc.) and analyzes the results of validation and qualification protocols for products, processes, and equipment
  • Develops ROI data for equipment replacement and coordinates its design, purchase/construction, and implementation with emphasis on design of fixtures
  • Develops assembly techniques, procedures and manufacturing cost reduction plans
  • Participates in material disposition decisions and reviews the status of blocked stock materials for the timely implementation of material disposition decisions
  • Participates in 6S and Kaizen activities in all assigned manufacturing areas; adheres to company established safety practices and promptly reports potential hazards
  • Leads projects and ensures all internal and external stakeholder requirements are met
  • Develops and updates product development plans and schedules
  • Holds project team members accountable for timely completion of assigned tasks and activities
  • Authors and/or reviews Standard Operating Processes, work instructions, test specifications, and other documents for accuracy
  • Follows and ensures compliance to departmental procedures
  • Develops and maintains audit functions (product, process, and operating system) ensuring quality systems and products are consistent with internal documentation, standards, and customer requirements


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering or highly related field and minimum 7-10 years progressive experience with automated production machinery; process monitoring (RJG, MKS), fixture/tool design
  • Ideally, experience with contamination control (Cleanroom, Load Ports) and understanding of semiconductor industry cleanliness requirements and/or assembly experience
  • Knowledge and experience implementing quality tools such as DOE, Statistical Process Controls, process capabilities studies, FMEA, process audits, root cause analysis, value stream mapping, etc.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Black Belt certification desired
  • Systems experience including AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and ERP (SAP desired)
  • Knowledge and experience in creating routings, work instructions, ECR’s/ECO’s, and other documentation
