Overview

The R&D Materials Scientist will provide expertise and support to the testing and analysis of polymeric materials. This position reports to the Manager, Materials Engineering in the Advanced Materials Handling Division of Entegris. The R&D Materials Scientist develops new and improves existing test methods; assists in problem solving and provides technical support to other Entegris functional groups, namely, Engineering and Manufacturing. Prepares and delivers customer presentations to support company programs and/or solves customer problems. This position will both support the development, qualification, and validation of new materials for the Advanced Materials Handling Division.



Responsibilities

  • Apply technical principles, theories, and concepts to data analysis to provide written reports in a timely manner to Customers, Engineering, and Manufacturing
  • Operate equipment including but not limited to: TGA, FTIR, DSC, DMA, Capillary and Parallel Plate Rheometers, liquid particle counters, and Melt Flow Indexer
  • Ability to assist in the solving of complex materials issues relating materials, chemistry, and analytical data to the product and materials applications
  • Analyze detailed organic contamination data from GC-MS, ICP-MS, or other instrumentation to help drive contamination reduction programs for the AMH Division
  • Author research protocols and testing methods in the support of product characterization and new material program development programs
  • Engage and collaborate with cross functional teams to solve material challenges
  • Work with minimal guidance from management and regularly communicate project results and timelines to leadership and cross functional teams
  • Follow good lab practices and assumes partial to full responsibility for qualification and maintenance of laboratory equipment


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials / Polymer Engineering / Chemistry
  • Demonstration of 7-10 years in the analytical testing or laboratory environment
  • Strong analytical background with deep knowledge laboratory instrumentation and methodologies
  • Knowledge in polymer manufacturing and processing including: injection molding, roto molding, blow molding, and extrusion
  • Keeps current on materials, testing technologies, and equipment
  • Basic understanding and utilization of Root Cause and Corrective Action processes and tools
  • Experience in global R&D environment is desired
