Summary:

  • Assists with the patient flow under the direction of a Registered Nurse, or Charge Nurse, in the Cardiac Cath Lab. Works within the guidelines of established practice for the technician assistant and exemplifies the core values in the Cardiac Cath Lab at The Chester County Hospital. The Cardiovascular Technologist will support the mission, philosophy, and objectives, established for interventional services.

Responsibilities:

  • Department Specific Responsibilities:
  • Transporting patients to and from the cardiac cath lab under the direction of the Charge RN
  • Assists with transportation of outpatient admission and discharge
  • Assists with room turnover and lab cleans between procedures
  • Morning lab QC including: X-Ray in all procedure rooms, temperature logs (refrigerator, blanket warmer)
  • Assists with making procedure trays using sterile technique
  • Stocks bedside supplies daily
  • Stocks procedure rooms daily
  • Daily patient equipment clean
  • Weekly clean of all equipment in the cardiac cath lab
  • Welcomes and greets visitors, patients and healthcare professionals to the unit
  • Assists visitors to the unit in finding patient rooms, staff members and other resources. Checks with the RN as necessary for visitors
  • Assists other areas of Cardiology when available
  • Communication:
  • Demonstrates pleasant and professional communication skills
  • Communicates patient and unit information to the Charge RN and
  • Informs Charge RN when leaving the department for any reason
  • Answers the phone promptly using proper telephone etiquette. Refers phone call to the appropriate person and is reliable with messages.
  • Role Development:
  • Develops own knowledge via practice, observation, and attending continuing education programs and in-services
  • Maintains good attendance/lateness standards in accordance with Hospital policy
  • Accepts constructive feedback about performance or behaviors and shows evidence of change
  • Demonstrates verbal and writing skills that are appropriate for healthcare communication
  • Adheres to the hospital and department Dress Code
  • Participates in meetings (speaks opinion, respects differences, listen carefully, stay on topic).
  • Scrubbing into Cath cases... including cardiac Cath, peripheral vascular Cath, diagnostics and interventions.

Credentials:

  • ARRT or RCIS (Required)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
  • BCLS Required

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • High School Diploma or GED required and 0-1 years training and/or experience at an acute care facility or transporter who has had clinical experience performing Technician Assistant job description skills.
