The Advisory Board Events team oversees the strategy, development, and execution of virtual and in-person events that convene leaders across the health care industry. As we reimagine our future events, we are excited to bring on a Specialist to support the strategy and development of events designed to drive interaction, discussion, and engagement with Advisory Board research and fellow attendees.

Reporting to the Director of Event Strategy and Development, the Specialist will play a pivotal role within the Events Strategy team, helping to craft agenda templates, event design playbooks, and testing innovations in interactive and engaging event design. In addition, this role will partner closely with other Advisory Board teams, including Event Planning, Research, Commercial, Delivery, and Product Strategy. The ideal candidate for this role will bring creativity, the ability to organize and marshal cross-functional workstreams, experience with event design, a growth and innovation mindset, and an excitement to develop and test new-in-kind interactive event experiences.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support events strategy, product feature design, and development of in-person and virtual events, ranging from large-scale conferences and summits to smaller roundtable discussions
  • Serve as a thought partner to Research teams in developing event agendas with a specific focus on attendee experience, conversation design, and innovative formats
  • Coordinate and schedule conversations across internal teams to gather input and perspective on event product strategy and design
  • Participate in retrospectives with internal stakeholders following events to capture learnings that will support future event design
  • Capture and distribute notes, decisions, and next steps for meetings they are part of
  • Help build and maintain a playbook of event elements, exercises, and facilitation techniques for Research teams to utilize in event design
  • Support development and testing of new event experiences
  • Help identify, source, and prepare external attendees and presenters, as needed
  • Research events offered by other health care companies to refine our value proposition

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in event strategy
  • Experience creating event-related materials, such as multi-track conference agendas, presentation slides, and interactive breakout experiences
  • Ability to travel up to 25% (as deemed safe and aligned with current Covid-19 travel guidelines)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with health care stakeholders (e.g., provider, payer, life sciences, and/or services firms)
  • Event design experience
  • Experience creating innovative workshop design and architecture
  • Experience with mid-size/large events
  • Experience in product strategy/new product development (or interest in learning and supporting how new products are developed and launched)
  • Proficiency using virtual event technology platforms (e.g., Teams, Cvent)
  • Ability to thrive and adapt in an environment of frequent change
  • Demonstrated project management skills, ability to coordinate across multiple projects

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 to $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $72,800 to $129,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
