APPLICATIONS TRAINING SPECIALIST, SENIOR - Position will be based in the El Segundo area and will require periodic travel to the Los Angeles & Northern Orange County areas.

Position in this function is responsible for the development and delivery of technical training for administrative and clinical staff for EMR/PM application training, all other applications related to New Hire trainings, and support of PC software training for Optum.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development and modification of end-user internal courses, instructor materials, customized courses, and self-paced learning modules
  • Deliver hands-on computer training to clinical staff and others in a group setting or one-on-one session
  • Actively participate in shadowing and mentoring computer activities at the work site
  • Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends as needed
  • Develops mechanisms for class scheduling
  • Administers standardized performance evaluations
  • Determines local, regional, and individual training need assessments
  • Supports initial training of new PC users in navigating PC applications including, but not limited to: Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Word
  • Serves as a resource and role model for Optum clients
  • Exemplifies customer service-oriented behavior at all times
  • Receives user feedback and evaluation regarding Information Services training, and facilitates improvements to the program
  • Delivers training programs to both individuals and small to large groups
  • Develops a 'train the trainer' program for large-scale programming projects
  • Performs other duties as requested by the Information Services Manager of Technical Training

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of post-high school education
  • 3+ years of training experience
  • 3+ years of healthcare experience
  • Experience in teaching large classes and one on one sessions
  • Ability to transfer knowledge to clients with diverse cultural backgrounds, educational experiences, and learning styles
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in Standard English to medical staff from a wide variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Proficiency in creating formal technical training materials and course documentation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Computer-literate proficiency in operating personal laptop, projector, and other trainer tools
  • Valid California driver's license, insurance and vehicle for work-related travel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of education and training courses
  • 5+ years of training experience
  • Experience in teaching using webinars or other remote tools
  • Experience in training within medical facilities and exposure to medical office procedures
  • E-Learning development experience
  • Solid presentation skills and good verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid innovation skills
  • Ability to manage special projects to completion
  • Ability to work well with others on the team
  • Customer service-oriented
  • Solid interpersonal skills

Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, or New York City Residents Only: The hourly range for Colorado residents is $26.15 to $46.63. The hourly range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $28.85 to $51.30.
