The Community Outreach Coordinator will advance the community’s perception of Peoples Health as a leader in health awareness and improvement. The position will travel extensively throughout specified region, with periodic trips within the plan service area initiating and extending positive relationships with area organizations and community leaders. They will promote and advance Peoples Health as a health improvement resource and partner with targeted senior organizations, community leaders and community resources for market health initiatives throughout assigned Peoples Health market(s).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop positive relationships with senior, community, social and religious organizations
  • Schedule Peoples Health community wellness and outreach programs as appropriate in various locations throughout assigned market regions
  • Identify and coordinate informal sales opportunities with the assistance of Sales and Event Coordinator
  • Develop, implement, promote and facilitate opportunities for Peoples Health to partner with local senior organizations and other targeted market entities on health-related seminars, health fairs and screenings as appropriate in conjunction with Peoples Health quality health initiative of the month
  • Promote Peoples Health and community relations programs through the development and dissemination of event fliers, marketing materials, or other appropriate materials
  • Identify and develop positive strategic relationships with community leaders and key, influential individuals
  • Communicate the scheduling of outreach, informal and formal sales events to the appropriate regional team staff members
  • Represent Peoples Health at selected community and industry events as well as coordinate with regional Executive Director for speaking opportunities, as appropriate
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to groups and individuals on selected topics
  • With oversight of the Community Relations Manager, identify and recruit presenters for various health, wellness and senior interest topics
  • Organize and staff events as needed
  • Assist in the development of new member retention events in the specified region of Peoples Health service area
  • Coordinate activities with community based agencies, senior residences, physician offices and other locations affecting/influencing Medicare /Medicaid eligible beneficiaries’ healthcare decisions
  • Collaborate with Community Relations staff to coordinate Community Relations activities when appropriate
  • Assist the Director of Community Relations and Marketing & Communications management with related activities as required
  • Work closely with the regional team for volunteer, community relations and outreach opportunities
  • Develop and coordinate selected sponsorships, public relations activities, event presentations and other projects and activities designed to reach the public, as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher) OR 3+ years of experience in communications
  • 2+ years of experience in communications, public relations or community relations
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook programs
  • Ability to lift up to lift 30 pounds
  • Ability to travel throughout the plan service area. Reliable and readily available transportation necessary
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination, and boosters when applicable, prior to employment to ensure compliance.
