Summary:

  • The Bed Management Coordinator acts as the initial contact for patients and family to the Patient Progression Department. Verifies and registers patients in the EPIC system. Explains all forms used and securing signatures on consents, authorization and financial agreement forms. Verifies and pre-certifies patients insurance information and insures that information for billing is complete and accurate. Directs patient to the appropriate clinical area/nursing unit. Answers incoming calls to Bed Management and performs required reception duties.

Responsibilities:

  • peratinal Duties and Respnsibilities: Assesses available bed resurce and current bed status by meeting with the NAC every am and pm Cmmunicates and discusses bed assignment with each Nurse Manager, Emergency Department staff, physicians and residents Makes medical team assignments and cmmunicates all assignments with residents Crdinates with cardiac care nurse and/r the critical care nurse, when apprpriate t expedite bed assignments and in-huse transfer activity amng the critical care units and medical/surgical units. Reviews Cath lab and R schedules t anticipate and plan the next day’s admissin/transfer bed request Crdinates/cmmunicates with management f Envirnmental Services utilizes Bed Tracking System and rders stat cleans t facilitate patent flw Maintains daily lg f all unscheduled admits ie: direct frm physician ffices, emergency department, transfers and pst/prcedure admits Cmmunicate with Clinical Resurce Management fr all discharges and transfer activity Identify prblems advise manager and request a bed management meeting Supprt the rganizatin and peratins f the hspital and the department Wrks with telemetry until t reserve bxes fr patients and have telemetry rders reviewed Attends staff meeting t discuss new prcedures and review current practices Cnsistently demnstrates the ability t apprpriately priritize requests fr admissin and prblem slve patient bed placement issues Wrks directly with pre-certificatin crdinatr t have all insurance’s verified fr illegality befre cnfirming transfer Perfrms all ther duties necessary fr the efficient peratin f the department including special prjects cmpleted by the agreed date Analysis and enter data in the PD reprt as required daily t capture patient prgressin data Certified fr Registratin Database Maintains clean efficient wrkstatin Maintains 95% accuracy with EPIC registratins Greets patients in a friendly manner Cntacts external cmpanies t verify patient’s emplyment and insurance infrmatin fr Wrkmen’s Cmpensatin cases, as required Makes cpies f insurance cards and identificatin btain accurate demgraphic and insurance infrmatin, as well as verifying and validating insurance infrmatin Generate medical recrd number and past medical recrd infrmatin fr patient Prduces patient identificatin band Prficient with dwntime prcedures Peridically rients new persnnel as required Alerts management team t prblems (i.e. lack f beds, etc) Perfrms ther duties in area f respnsibility as assignedCllectin f C-pay Duties: Interview patient asking in what manner he/she will be making payment t the Center Have patient sign the PATIENT CNSENT FR FINANCIAL RESPNSIBILITY FRMS Fill in the $ amunt fr self-pay patients Wrk with billing t cllect mnies established by a payment plan Witness and date frmsPatient/Custmer: bservance f ur Patient Access Hspitality Huse Rules Curtesy and pliteness Friendliness Cncern fr each patient’s well being Sensitivity and prmpt respnsiveness t the patient’s wants and needs Cperatin with and helpfulness t the patient, members f the patient’s family, visitrs and c-wrkers Pride in self, prfessins and the hspital Respect fr ther pepleTeam Partner: Key Team partners include: Patient Access Team including Financial Cunseling, Nursing Management, Clinical Resurces Management, SPU staff, Physician ffice staff, and CB management. Credentials:

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • And Demonstrated coursework with Medical Terminology
