Payment Integrity Non-Clinical Director – Growth

Functional Description:

The Director is responsible for the strategy, delivery and support of ideation, growth, solutions, and their performance within the Non-Clinical Value Streams. In this role, the expectation is to provide strategic leadership from ideation through to concept deployment and understanding the impacts to our Revenue and Medical Cost Savings streams. This leader will need to possess strategic vision, relationship management, superior analytic and communication skills along with a proven track record of delivering results. Working collaboratively with our matrix partners, breaking down organization barriers and building alliances will be key to the successful realization of our growth and transformation initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and lead the growth & innovation portfolio across the value stream, with specific responsibility for non-clinical ‘top opportunities’
  • Partner with matrixed organizations (e.g., concept research, data analytics, product, data enablement, technology, finance, solution architecture, and automation) to ensure planned SG&A, Medical Cost savings and affordability results are delivered
  • Partner with Payer and Product on organic growth opportunities within the affordability and medical cost savings vectors
  • Work with UHC leadership to identify and develop affordability opportunities with a clear understanding of key growth initiatives and potential solutions minimizing overlap while reducing costs across the enterprise
  • Establish data and business controls to ensure high-risk growth opportunities are sourced and vetted appropriately prior to development and/or deployment
  • Responsible for growth targets, pipeline management, execution support and communications across the non-clinical organization
  • Proactively engage with business transformation teams to drive innovation to maximize opportunities and deliver incremental Medical Cost Savings / affordability
  • Take a leadership role for driving continued NPS performance improvement working with value streams and develop portfolio of improvement initiatives

Job Scope and guidelines

  • Owns ideation and growth-related processes within Optum Non-Clinical Payment Integrity Operations
  • Drives solutions that yield revenue for our customers and products
  • Develops, translates, and executes strategies or functional and operational growth objectives at the segment level
  • Work collaboratively with Value Stream Leaders on solutions that are most likely to impact the entire enterprise, industry, and/or marketplace with a focus on profitability
  • Works collaboratively within the Non-Clinical Payment Integrity Global Operation to achieve high measures of employee engagement while maintaining high standards of performance
  • Works collaboratively with Product and larger Payer organization to design and deliver new products and services within the Affordability and medical costs savings vectors

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to understand and influence the necessary and appropriate actions to ensure maximization of financial results and objectives
  • Experience of implementing business transformation initiatives from ideation to successful delivery
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills within a matrix environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work across all functional areas, as well as business partners

  • Experience managing large data sets and developing analytics
  • Healthcare data domain experience
  • Business process and engineering experience
  • Strategic Product Manager experience
  • Technology budget/cost management experience
