General Job Description:

The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner works with a multidisciplinary team at Penn Medicine at Chester County Hospital to implement a plan of care for admitted internal medicine patients. The PA-C/CRNP will work with the physicians of the hospitalist to provide patient centric, quality care. This opportunity is for a full time position for day shift

The PA-C/CRNP will perform history taking and physical examinations. Obtain and record past medical history, develop discharge plans, and record progress notes. They will also manage healthcare risk appraisal, interpret diagnostic tests, administer and order medications and emergency treatment, and communicate with families the changing care needs of their family member. They will be responsible for the changing needs of patients in the hospital in the night hours. They will not be doing rapid responses or codes.

The hospitalist group at Penn Medicine Chester County is looking for an advanced practitioner who is flexible, a good communicator, is able to adapt to dynamic environments, and has a patient focused mindset.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Nurse Practitioner:

· Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and a Master of Science degree in Nursing

· Acute care certification required

Physician Assistant:

· Completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) is required

· MS candidate is required

Experience:

Physician Assistant:

Completion of clinical rotations in internal medicine per the accredited PA program, would prefer at least one year of advanced practice.

Nurse Practitioner:

3 years of nursing experience with acute care experience during clinical rotations, would prefer at least one year of advanced practice.

Degrees/Licensure/Certifications:

Physician Assistant:

Current licensure as a PA in the state of Pennsylvania

National Certification as an NCCPA

Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine

BCLS, ACLS Certification

Nurse Practitioner:

Current licensure as a RN in the state of PA.

Current licensure as a CRNP in the state of PA

National Certification as an NP within 3 months of employment

Acute Care Certification required.
