The Department of Materials Management at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is seeking an Assistant Director- Production:
Summary:
Responsible for hospital receiving, distribution, and linen operations. These activities include par stocking of medical supplies, inventory management, equipment processing, receiving, distribution, and linen operations. Assistant Director monitors usage reports, department expense reports and identifies and operationalizes cost savings and clinical efficiencies. Monitors vendors and distributor performance and identifies ways to decrease activity/cost while maximizing staff labor for an efficient department. Meets regularly with key stakeholders to ensure service levels are being met. Participates in hospital wide process improvement initiatives. Maintains integrity of information system including inventory accuracy and valuation, INR, RNI, product conversions, catalogs and receipts.
Responsibilities:
PATIENT / CUSTOMER
- Meets with customers to establish desired service levels and ensure that these levels are being met.
- Performs rounds to observe service location compliance.
- Organize meetings with individuals and department for the purpose improving service levels.
OPERATIONS
- Effectively lead supervisory team: HUP Receiving HUP day shift operations HUP evening shift operations HUP night shift operations PCAM operations
- Responsible for insuring the accuracy of the Lawson MMIS system. Inventory Counts Receipts RNI/INR
- Develop staff performance standards and insure management team monitors employee performance/productivity
- Monitors hospital department expense reports and usage reports to identify supply expense reductions.
- Ensures appropriate staffing levels and identifies opportunities to reduce labor expense.
- Monitors supply chain activities to further enhance performance including: Line item volume frequency of delivery/ordering fill rates stock outs par optimization
- Ensures Supply Chain meets regulatory guidelines
- Organizes job training and continuing education for staff
- Develops inspection readiness initiatives
- Develops department action planning to establish job/work environment balance
- Enforces Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures
- Initiates all paperwork associated with hiring, disciplining and terminating employees
Education or Equivalent Experience:
Bachelor's Degree preferably with a business major (Required)
5+ years relevant experience (Required)
5+ years experience managing employees (Required)
Or In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree
High Diploma/GED (Required)
10+ years relevant experience (Required)
5+ years experience managing employees (Required)
