This is a leadership position responsible for the overall strategic management and service of a large and complex labor employer client. The position is accountable for the retention, growth, client satisfaction, the strategic direction of the account as well as the service experience. The Labor employer client is managed on a day-to-day basis by a team that includes Strategic Account Executive(s), Client Service Managers, Service Account Managers and Client Engagement Managers that will report to the leader in this position.


The case that is managed by this individual will include products that are targeted at serving the retirees of United Retiree Solutions Group Retiree employers - both pre and post 65.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Developing, inspiring, and coaching a team that includes Strategic Account Executive(s), Client Service Managers, Service Account Managers and Client Engagement Managers
  • Defining and executing a plan that leads to the growth and retention of the employer accounts in the assigned portfolio
  • Building and maintaining relationships with senior leaders who represent our customer
  • Advocating for our client with internal business partners to ensure we deliver successfully

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field
  • Ability to be licensed within 90 days if not currently
  • 10+ years of account management or related experience with 3+ years focused on complex and multi-site accounts
  • Experience working with Union Benefit plans
  • Proven excellent communications and interpersonal skills (internal/external)
  • Demonstrated solid influence, collaboration, and listening skills
  • Proven ability to navigate an often ambiguous and complex organization to resolve customer issues
  • Proven solid negotiation and leadership skills
  • Proven ability to create a strategic vision and plan its implementation
  • Demonstrated customer-focused skill; ability to work with employers, consumers, consultants, brokers
  • Proven ability to manage complex relationships between customers and/or consultants and internal company resources
  • Proven ability to facilitate relationships with high level contacts and decision makers
  • Ability to coordinate and influence superior customer service delivery by developing and maintaining strong intercompany relationships
  • Ability to develop and monitor client financial performance including renewal planning, negotiations, and profitability levels
  • Proven consistently exceeds objectives for profitability and persistency


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-graduate degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field
  • Insurance License - Health and Life Licensure
  • Management experience - ability to lead and inspire a team will be essential to the success of the individual in this role

  • Solid strategic focus, analytical, and project -management skills
  • Solid ability to influence with and without authority
  • Ability to assess problems and implement solutions based on sound marketing, operational and financial principles
  • Well-developed planning capabilities and a track record in controlling costs, identifying customer needs and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent presentation skills with the expertise and sophistication needed to credibly represent the Company in the context of the company’s values and quality commitments

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City, or Washington Residents Only: The hourly range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City, or Washington residents is $33.65 to $67.31. Role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance.
