We are seeking a highly motivated student to join our group for a 10-week summer internship program. A successful candidate will work with their mentor to combine scRNAseq data with human genetics to identify cell types that significantly impact inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The goals would be to expand our knowledge of causal human IBD biology and prioritize potential IBD gene targets for follow up investigation. This work will utilize both statistical genetics and bioinformatics as well as cutting edge scRNAseq datasets. The candidate will have opportunities to learn from experienced human geneticists, bioinformaticists, and disease-area experts, and acquire knowledge about drug discovery and development.
- Become familiar with and implement recent scRNAseq data analysis methods
- Integrate human genetic data from internal datasets and public databases
- Interpret results by learning and incorporating relevant IBD disease biology and genetics literature
- Deliver and communicate analysis results to team
Qualifications & Experience
- A strong foundation in statistical genetics or computational genomics or bioinformatics
- Experience in R (or similar language) and basic statistics
- Currently enrolled in Undergraduate/Master’s PhD program in life sciences, human genetics, bioinformatics, biostatistics, data science, or a similar field
- Must be able to work full-time for the program duration
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
